Amazon customer –
best portable AC unit I’ve used. cools things down quickly without being noisy & helpful/easy to use settings
C. Reed –
This paragraph is my summary. I’m comparing this unit against another LG in-window unit. Both units are great at cooling a room. This portable unit lacks features that the in-window unit has. This is why my Overall rating is 4/5 stars. At this price point, I’d like to see this unit gain the “Energy saver” mode and full scheduling features that the LG in-window unit has has.
My room measures 18 x 20 feet.
First some power measurements…
LP1022FVSM in Off/Standby mode: 3.70 – 4.85 watts
Power draw Fan Modes:
Fan only, lowest setting: 15.2 watts
Fan only, medium setting: 20.0 watts
Fan only, highest setting: 33.6 watts
Up/Down swing: (Closed position reduces the wattage of the above settings. For instance Low was at 10.3 watts closed, and 15.2 watts full open.)
Power draw in Air Conditioning mode:
Min: 15 watts -AC compressor turns off when the room temp (72F) is below the setpoint (74F).
Max: 1,109 watts
Maintaining current room temp of 72F, outdoor temp 80F: 299 watts average
Sound results: (non-scientific, measured at 3 feet from unit with a phone app)
AC low speed: 42-47 dB at 186 hz
AC high speed: 53-58 dB at 160 hz
Note on sound, the fan turbulence is the greatest source. The compressor makes a quiet purring sound.
I own an LG LW1222IVSM 1,2k BTU in-window unit and this LG LP1022FVSM 1,0k portable unit.
I purchased this portable unit to replace an older, but still working, Whynter ARC-122DS. I found this LG LP1022FVSM to be superior in every way to my old portable AC unit. It cools quicker and does so at a lower sound level. Drawing less energy and running quieter. LG appears to have spent a lot of time hushing the motor noise. They did a very good job.
The software/app allows me to schedule when to turn the unit on and off. I’d like to see the software features expand to include scheduling temperature setting and fan speed. This unit does not offer an automatic mode balancing the fan speed and cooling capacity.

We purchased this LG 10000 BTU (cools 450 Sqft ) to help keep our master bedroom cool when our AC quit working this summer. Our bedroom is large (300 square feet) with a 14′ ceiling, so we needed something capable of cooling that space. This LG definitely does the job! It is heavy, but the wheels make it easy to maneuver, setup was easy, and the directions were straightforward. This is capable of cooling our entire bedroom to the point where it is almost too cold.
Upon the initial setup, it cooled our large bedroom by 5 degrees within the first 30 minutes. We wanted the bedroom around 70 degrees, and it keeps it at the temp without any issues whatsoever. I’m not sure why some reviewers mention the noise level. We keep it on the medium fan speed at night while we sleep and it is very quiet. Of course you can hear it, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s much quieter than we imagined it would be for a unit this size. It’s expensive, but it’s been really hot here in Florida in the summer. This AC really saved us when we got in a jam. We would definitely purchase this again.

I’ve not had it too long but I’ve used 3 different portable ACs this summer and this is the quietest of them. It also does a good job of cooling my room. Seems like I finally found a winner

The item shows up in its original box, no extra packing, plug it in, it makes a clattering noise first thing, AC does not blow cold, no doubt bad handling and bad packaging, now I have a heavy large piece of garbage in my living room. Thanks a Lot!

It’s quiet, and I love that the hose is attached. I will update this review when I’ve used the unit longer, but now that I have it in home, I’m here to say to others like me who want to use a taller universal sliding glass door adapter or for any other reason know the ACTUAL hose diameter… the actual diameter of the round part of the hose (not the diffuser) is not 5″ as stated by “Ivan” from LG– it’s 5.9″ so it fits universal sliding door kit’s for a 5.9″ hose, like this one. I just screwed it in, so take my word for it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BXWJ9PBC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Secondly, the oval nozzle on the end of the 5.9″ hose CAN be removed (which you may want to do to use the nozzle from a universal window/door kit) – you just unscrew it! It’s so frustrating when you can’t get correct answers even from the manufacturer, so I thought I’d come here just to help anyone else out.
UPDATE: have used this LG AC for about a week now, and it totally cools my living room (about 420 sf). It’s also definitely quieter than the two other portable Acs I’ve owned. I had a plexi glass insert made for my very tall slider, which I recommend if the included kit is too small for your window. Love the wifi feature – have used it when not at home. Very happy. And please note that a reviewer who posted a video here erroneously states this unit has “heat mode” – it most definitely does not have any heat mode. He was merely turning the temperature up on the AC into the 80’s, admittedly a weird thing to do, but there is no heat mode or heating element. Only Cool, Dehumidify and Fan. And Sleep (which is a lower Cool mode). Check the specs – you’ll see I’m right. Really like this AC!
