LG SK1 2.0 Ch Compact Sound Bar Description
- COMPACT DESIGN: Step up to bigger, better TV sound without adding big, bulky boxes. The SK1 sound bar has a classic, ideally proportioned design that practically disappears beneath most TVs, a pleasure for the eyes as well as the ears.
- SOUND: Enjoy cinema-like audio with this high-performing sound bar. The action flows above and around you to complete your home theater.
- BLUETOOTH: Prized for its range and reliability, convenient Bluetooth wireless connectivity easily links portable devices such as smartphones and tablets—as well as compatible televisions—to a speaker or sound bar.
- TV REMOTE COMPATIBILITY: Reduce remote control clutter by using the TV remote to operate the LG sound bar. Eight brands of television remote are currently supported, enabling volume adjustment on the sound bar as easily as on the TV1.

Product arrived as scheduled, price was a bit better than competitors, connectivity was extremely simple and quick. Although the sound quality of the soundbar is an improvement over the speakers on the 32″TV it is not super crisp and not very loud. I’m in the process of spending a few days with the soundbar to decide whether to keep or return, at this point it could go either way.

Sounds really good most of the time, with some weird issues on particular videos.
There are some videos, especially on YouTube, where portions of audio are lost. Usually just like a word or two. It reminds me of how some sources will mute curse words, instead of bleeping…only in this case it is just random words.
The problem is undeniably with the LG speaker, as when I switch to another speaker, or built-in speakers on the TV there are no problems.
If I had to guess, I would assume there is something in the audio mixing of certain videos, that the LG speaker is failing to pick up.

As one who almost always writes a review for any product I buy, I should have paid attention to those who warned against purchasing this sound bar in their reviews. Although both of my TVs are LGs, which work beautifully, the reviews for this sound bar were somewhat mixed. I guess anything that makes it for one year at a price tag of $82 can’t be all bad, but this sound bar comes close. First off, the sound quality was borderline better than the built-in speakers that came with the TV. Since we have 10 foot ceilings, I purchased the sound bar with the hope that rather than having the sound of the built-in speakers bounce upward off the mantle beneath the TV, it would be directed forward from the sound bar. What I hadn’t counted on was the relatively poor sound quality of the sound bar itself. Imagine my surprise, however, when, I turned on my TV this morning and the sound bar didn’t come on as well. Thinking the batteries were probably dead, I replaced them. Fuggedaboutit!! The red light stays on, and no amount of cajoling with the remote has any effect upon the sound bar. It’s D-E-A-D. Almost one year to the day from the time I bought it. So, lesson learned. If the reviews are mixed for a product, avoid it like the plague. This sound bar is a loser.

The bass on this speaker is a bit low, but it’s still way better than my TV speakers or Echo Dot. Audio quality sounds pretty good

I was expecting to spend half the day trying to figure it all out. I plugged it in and hooked up the optical cable and that’s all it took! Very pleased. The only thing I’m having a problem with is that I can not use my Xfinity remote to turn off the tv. All the other functions work, but I have to actually use the original tv remote to turn it off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have a new LG OLED TV and wanted to improve the sound. Even though many other soundbars have better ratings, I thought sticking with LG would make this soundbar operate easily with the tv’s apps and remote. That wasn’t the case. Each time I went to an app (Netflix, Amazon Fire TV, Hulu), the sound was very faint. I finally figured out in the settings that the sound processing in the apps (Dolby, DTS) weren’t compatible with this soundbar. I would have to go into the tv’s settings every time I went to one of these apps – changing the setting didn’t stay in memory. That was a hassle. The sound on this was ok, nothing great. I think the tv’s sound quality is better. It just doesn’t get very loud. I have a Denon AVR with a Blu-Ray player running through it to the tv. So I can get good sound by turning that on. I was just looking for something simple to increase the volume level when watching the news or other network programming. I returned this and will look to purchase something else – probably the Yamaha soundbar.

Overall sound quality is ‘so so’ . Even on sale it felt overpriced for a sound bar . The reason I bought it was for the integrated experience though. As I have an LG tv , this works in unison with the tv speakers and I do not need to use multiple remotes to get the sound right.
So in conclusion – buy if on sale , expect basic sound but the integrated LG TV experience means less daily hassle.
If you don’t have a LG tv I would pass on this sound bar.

Easy to install and connect to my LG TV. Not stereo surround sound quality for music. But for the price it is perfect. Good for hearing challenged.
kappy –
Perfect size and quality for an “extra” tv. Easily connects and on/off and volume is controlled with the tv remote or streaming device remote.

I love the decibel boost and synchronized functionality it has with my old LG TV. But the audio quality isn’t for audiophile expectations.
Justin Jackson –
I love the fact that this speaker is nice and loud

Added this speaker on to my PC gaming system and I have to say it works good. Would have 5 stars if it had a bass add on option.
