Steve Hoult –
As a musician of 20 years I frequently use these strings on my acoustic guitars. They produce a bright tone and pair well with maple and spruce body guitars. These light gauge strings are easy on your fingers and have a long life.

Martin Authentic Acoustic Guitar Strings, Superior Performance Extra Light 10-47, 92/8 Phosphor Bronze
I was amazed at the TONE these strings gave my OrangeWood Mason Torrified Spruce ES Live guitar. It was the tone I’ve always wanted. Deep rich bass with unmuddled mids and a nice high end without being too bright.
However, I don’t think I got the 10-47 gauge strings I ordered. And the packaging was long gone before I came to that conclusion. I really think I got 12’s or higher. I found them difficult to actually PLAY. So much so that I stopped playing much for awhile because it hurt my fingers.
I replaced them with a set of D’Addarios 10s and the playability came back but the tone went away. Don’t get me wrong, the OrangeWood still sounds good, just not AS good.

For the price point, best strings on the market. They donβt last as long as the treated versions but they are great nonetheless.

These seem to be a cut above my usual “go to” string purchase. I like the fact that these arrived in a sealed package and each string is individually wrapped and numbered. Once broken in mine have maintained accurate tuning with only slight modification of string tension when using a capo. So far very satisfied – will buy again.

I put these ones on my Oscar Schmidt acoustic electric guitar, and they sound awesome! Very good price also I was really surprised I was able to get Martin at a price lower than $10 thank you for the company who offers this product through Amazon. I will be getting more strings a lot of my guitars got ruined in a fire mostly from the firefighters in the water but thank God I put my Brazilian guyanini and my Martin sigma established 1970 guitar was in a heavy case and then we have bass guitars they didn’t get ruined thank God so I’ll be getting strings for them too and also I have a Yamaha 12 string which I already have strings for and I didn’t put them on but it got ruined in the back from the water cuz it wasn’t in a case but anyway you don’t even know everything I guess but I just want to let you know these things are awesome I think I’m going to get something a little heavier for any other guitar but that’s right I forgot two of them were stolen and one of our bass guitars and it was worth over $1,000. It was a hollow body ovation from the 1960s in the other one was the 12th string Wilson with pearl inlays. I wish I still had them so I can’t buy the strings from this company. Thank you for this again I think I’m depressed sorry I’m writing too much but I love you these strings and I love my guitar but I love God more than anything

I’ve been using another brand of strings on my Custom X Series Martin Guitar for a while so I wanted to see what the Martin-branded strings sounded like in comparison.
Decided to try the light gauge MA540 Phosphor Bronze since I play regularly at church and practice around the house quite a bit.
Strings went on really well and, after tuning and stretching, they had a nice full sound to them. At first, I didn’t think they were as bright as I wanted them to be but, after playing for a while, I was really impressed with how they held up and sounded.
The day after I put them on, they stayed in tune fairly well … I had to make some small adjustments but nothing major.
Also, when I put my capo on, I didn’t have to adjust the tuning too much either.
The other brand of strings I use have a rewards program which is a nice incentive. If Martin instituted something similar, I would use these strings exclusively.
As far as the sound, tone, and price, I have no complaints.

Expected to receive 25 packages of 6 strings. Got 6 packages of 25 strings. The box is used as a dispenser for the strings so don’t throw it out or wreck it. Looking forward to using the strings. Delivery came on time.

I’ve bought a ton of Martin strings over the last five years… Most of the time I just buy them direct from Martin or from websites which offer bundle deals (that shall remain nameless for the purposes of this review). The icon that evidences my purchasing of strings through Amazon is soo small, I can’t tell what product I’m actually reviewing. I keep a stock of 3-5 each of Light, Custom-Light and Extra-Light in Marquis in my workshop. Additionally, I quite love the various “vintage” (or is it “retro”) strings Martin makes. I’ve strung the Monel ones on resonator guitars and they sound fantastic. I also quite like (like maybe my favorite product Martin makes) ‘Silk and Steel’ strings. I do not play with a thumbpick and so my thumb seems to appreciate my switching to these strings on my own Art & Lutherie. As they are fairly low tension, they are a perfect string for young hands as well..
So, I guess what I’m saying is that any of these products I would give five stars… Having switched from D’addario about 10 years ago, I’ve really never looked back. If I’m stringing a metal stringed acoustic guitar, I’m stringing it with Martin strings..
