My spiggy loves his Midwest cage. I purchased the cage and then decided to get the top a few weeks later. The top is very convenient. Hodor likes it when we take the top off or leave part of the cage uncovered by the top. I like that I don’t have to remove the entire top in order to reach into the cage from above. Because the cage top folds in 3 places, it is easy to completely remove the top and put it to the side. I don’t have to find s place of a 4 foot long top when I want to remove the entire top.
At night, I do put a piece of cardboard on top of the top panel. We have a cat, and I don’t want her to hurt her paw on the metal if she decides to misbehave and jump onto the top panel of the cage. So far, she hasn’t tried to get on top of the cage.

I’ve had the Midwest guinea pig cage for YEARS, but bought the one without the lid/cover. Unfortunately recent circumstances had me suddenly taking in a cat, so I finally had reason for needing one. The fit is a LITTLE off, but that could be because my cage is so old and likely warped.

This cage was great for my guinea pig Napoleon. It was very spacious, giving him an eating area for Timothy hay, pellets, veggies, and his water bottle; an area to do his business; an area for his hut; and an area for his chew toys. This cage is soft-bottomed, so I bought a sheet of plywood to put under the cage because the cage was slightly bigger than the table it was on. I also bought the matching top for this cage (bought on its own, this cage does not have a top) which came in handy to keep the cats out. You can’t put anything heavy on the top of the cage but it still served it’s purpose. It gave Napoleon a lot of joy to have such a great “room” his last year of life. I would highly recommend this to someone with a guinea pig.

I have had just the cage for some time now and the guinea pig loves it. I use 2 towels and a fleece blanket as the bedding and change every 3 or 4 days. The $2.50 fleece blankets at Walmart work perfectly. Make sure to not use fabric softener or bounce sheets when laundering.
We recently got an indoor kitten, who adores the piggy. The pig is not fond of the cat, so I bought the cage lid to keep him out. I was worried that it wouldn’t work because I don’t have the divider panel for stability, and I didn’t want to have to pay more money for the divider. I have had it on the cage for a few weeks now and it seems fine without the divider.

It was fairly easy to assemble and makes clean up a breeze, our guinea pig loves it, only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that it is rather loose when assembled, though this was remedied rather simply with the help of some zip ties. If you have other pets I would also recommend getting a top as well for it.

Very happy that I purchased this topper for our guinea habitat. Nice fit, easy to clip on and keeps our pig safe and secure. I only purchased it because we were adopting a dog and wanted to keep our pig safe in case the dog wanted to hunt. It definitely has given our pig more confidence in the cage, I think he feels more protected with the topper. The corners easily unclip and you can fold it over to insert hay, grab your pet, etc. Glad we made the purchase.

I bought this 8 Square Foot Pen to house my indoor Cortunix Quail. I am very happy with it, and so are my quail. This is NOT a strong cage, so it is NOT for an outside area. I like that the bottom canvas can be easily removed, sanitized, and put back with the Velcro stripes.

I like that this top panel is available for the Midwest guinea pig cage. It was easy to put together and adds a barrier of protection from anything falling into the cage and keeps my pig from trying to climb over. Overall, the structure of the cage was not the sturdiest, and although the top panel helped with this somewhat, I ended up using zip-ties to hold the panels together. I did end up switching back to a traditional cage as the canvas base and velcro latches made cleaning the cage a huge pain. I like the concept of the cage, but I think a solid base would make the product much better.
