I recently purchased the Monoprice Weatherproof Hard Case (22″ x 14″ x 8″) intending to use it for a delicate instrument along with a folder that measures 11.5″ x 14″. The case is sturdy, well-built, and offers excellent protection, but there’s one significant drawback: the interior dimensions.
While the exterior dimensions are listed as 22” x 14” x 8”, the interior space measures only 20.5” x 10.75” x 7”. Unfortunately, this size difference is large enough that the folder won’t fit inside. I didn’t anticipate losing 3.75 inches in width due to the thickness of the case walls and external features like the hinges and handle. The product description on Amazon didn’t provide the internal measurements, which could easily lead others to assume—as I did—that the interior dimensions would be closer to the external ones.
If you’re considering this case, be aware that the usable space is significantly smaller than the external measurements suggest. Despite this, the case is excellent for protecting delicate equipment and could be perfect for other purposes. I’d recommend the manufacturer update the listing to include interior dimensions to help others make an informed decision.

My biggest challenge with buying a hard case was making sure I got one that was the right size. Luckily I got it right and this one is exactly the right size I needed for my precious collection of telescope eyepieces. The item is exactly as described. It’s durable and solid looking and the latches close nice and tight. The foam inserts are in layers and it was really easy to customize the inside for my treasures. I’m not convinced it’s fully waterproof, but I don’t plan on testing that part. 🙂 It certainly makes me confident enough for the normal item protection I expected and bought it for. Ordering was quick and easy and it came in quickly.

Needed really sturdy case to transport large (13cm diam X 70cm long) telescope & peripherals by air. This case has room for everything, & pluck-out foam inserts (5 layers of them) were easy to customise so all the parts are snug & well protected from bumps & vibrations. Construction is excellent, the latches (3 in front & 2 each side) clamp down securely. They do require some effort to open & snap shut, which I want. There are 4 locations for padlocks (1 on either side of the left & right front latches) for added theft protection. Very satisfied.

This case is very strong. It is heavy given it is made of thick strong materials (though certainly lighter than a metal equivalent). It is latchable. It is lockable via plastic locking tabs molded into the body. It comes with a foam insert that allows it to be customized for whatever sort of fragile or valuable item you are looking to store/transport in it. Compared to similar cases, it is a little stronger, a little heavier, and a bit cheaper. So overall it is a good value. I haven’t tried to submerge it, and don’t plan to, so I don’t have any information on whether it would be waterproof. It looks like it is designed to resist water for at least a little while (it has a rubber gasket). I’m sure it would float. The box is easily carriable via the handle. My only knock is that the lock tabs are not reinforced with metal. It’s not a big deal for me as I am not using it for a purpose where someone would work on the case for some time to break into it. But that could be a concern for some and I’ve seen lesser boxes (an in fact I have one) that did have metal reinforced lock tabs. For a case of this size, quality and weight, it would have been consistent with its design to beef up the security of its lockability. Still breaking the plastic tabs would be no easy job so its pretty secure for most applications. Recommended.

This is an extremely rugged and sturdy case. It’s very similar to those Pelican cases. We packaged some very fragile material in this thing and we felt confident that our stuff was well protected. The foam inside can be cut out to make a perfect custom fit for anything of any size. The case itself is large and heavy, but it has wheels and a handle so hauling this thing around (such as through an airport) is not difficult.
