I have a violin that cost me nearly $500 for a starter violin so I was expecting this to be a HSO (Harp Shaped Object) like cheap violins are often VSO (Violin Shaped Objects) but to my surprise it actually seemed pretty legit. It has a case for your violin also. I think keeping the bag on would be recommended to protect it a bit better though. The wires for it make a pretty decent sound and in the on the case their is pouch to put your books and such like you would other instruments like a violin, If you open this up you’ll find a tuner, some extra wires and booklet that teaches you how to play this lyre harp. With each of the wires there is also a letter followed by numbers for the notes you’d be playing. So I think for a starting instrument this could be a useful beginner instrument if your interested in learning to play. I still advise learning some music theory on top of it.

This is a 16 string Lyre Harp that comes with two replacement strings for each type of string, some picks, and a carrying bag and strap. It would be ideal for someone looking to learn the instrument, but not completely serious yet, as it only has 16 strings, and the inclusion of a simple starter guide.
Can you make passable music on it? Yes, but it does require tuning out of the box. A lot of tuning, as none of the notes were correct. The guide recommends a tuning app to tune the lyre, and it does work decently well (of course, mileage may vary depending on your phone).
However, the lyre has a habit of untuning itself while you are tuning. I’m not completely sure of the reason, but I assume it has something to do with the wooden body warping a bit as you tighten more strings, leading to the strings loosening. Unfortunately, this means that you have to repeat the tuning multiple times in order to get the lyre tuned, so set aside an afternoon for that.
The overall quality of the wood is good, but not great. It doesn’t have the type of feel as a more premium instrument, but it’s still durable. The strings appear to be standard, with seemingly no difference between the strings on a guitar and the ones on the lyre, except for the length. It’s also nice that it includes 32 replacement strings as well (2 for each string).
The simple starter guide goes over the types of lyre harps and gives you a simple song to start out on. It’s clear that this harp is designed more towards people just starting out, or people that have taken an interest in the instrument. Due to its string limitations, there is only a relatively small amount of music you can play as well. Thus, this package is best suited towards beginners.

My friend and I picked up this gem because we were just curious. Honestly had very low expectations for an Amazon string instrument but it was surprisingly well built and with generous accessories. It came with a carrying case that included multiple picks, a spare of each string, tuning implement, and a music booklet with care instructions, a few songs to try out, hand positioning, and string labels for those who want.
In terms of construction, it was sturdily built, and the wood finish was excellent. The wood was smooth, nice and shiny and generally very attractive.
It’ll need tuning upon arrival but it’s very entertaining once tuned. A good gift for friends who want to unleash their medieval bard or just goof about musically.

This is a lovely introductory lyre! We have a musical family and love to pick up new instruments. This is a very nice, and quite easy instrument to play with. I used a tuning app (and had to tune this several times until it finally settled), and started playing some of the intro songs that were supplied with the lyre. There are also a lot of videos online with how-to instructions. We are enjoying this new addition!
