I have tried many of the unflavored whey proteins (isolate and concentrate) that are on the market, and this is the only one that I will not even be using…even though I have two bags of this stuff next to my suitcase. I bought two bags–that’s $250 of Now whey isolate unflavored–to take with me on an extended stay out of the country in an effort to save a bit of money. It backfired. I tried one of the bags and swore I must have gotten distracted half way through washing the cup and left it soapy. So, I tried the powder right out of the bag. Same thing… I opened the other bag believing that the only way it could taste like that is if it had gone bad… The other bag tasted the same. That sucks. That means I wasted $250 on this stuff.
There are studies out there showing that this protein has low levels of heavy metals and is pretty true to it’s protein content. That’s fine. But, when it comes down to it, are you willing to put something in your body, which becomes your body (ALL the cells in your body are constantly be regenerated from the food you eat, the water you drink and the air you breathe) if it is acidic and tastes very distinctly of dish soap… Let me clarify, that I am fine with ingesting things that taste pretty horrible (like spirulina, chlorella or pretty much any green powder) if it’s actually good for you. It’s not the taste I mind. It’s the fact that a clean protein powder has ABSOLUTELY NO reason to taste acidic and like dish soap.
If you want an unflavored isolate that is ACTUALLY CLEAN go with LifeSource Vitamins. It’s grass-fed and is not a byproduct of cheese production. Otherwise, the next best thing is from NutraBio. Please don’t buy this, UNLESS you are fine with building muscle at the cost of your health. This is definitely a step up from products like MuscleMilk or ON, but that’s not saying much.

I’ve been a fan of most of Now Foods products for the past 5 years. I’ve used the creatine, l-glutamine, omega-3, and whey protein isolates. I’m a 5’9 185lb male and lift weights 5 days a week and run 5 times a week. I’m really glad I tried this Pure Protein product. I used to use the Now Whey Isolate (Chocolate), but never cared for the taste and often felt a little queasy after an intense workout then a 1.5 scoop (40g) serving. I read about this product a few months ago and decided to try the 1lb tub for $22 to see how I liked it and how my body handled it.

I used up the 1lb tub in two weeks, and it was fantastic. I love that it truly is pure protein with no artificial flavors, no preservatives, and uses only whey isolate. So many others cut their proteins with mixtures to save cost, and you get an inferior protein. This stuff is really good. I know many other reviews liked this product because it was unflavored and you could add your own flavor to make it taste great. For me, I don’t want to spend the time making a recipe and cleaning a blender after my workout, so I mix it straight with cold filtered water in a tumbler with a fork. It’s very drinkable that way. No big chunks and tastes like nothing. I’m only drinking it to get my protein in, so what do I care. 🙂

I’ve had no queasy after effects with this protein, it mixes easy, and because of that I’m taking it more often and putting on more lean muscle. I love the 10lb bag for convenience, and store it in a few smaller containers to avoid going into the resealable bag over and over. Solid product and I’ll continue to buy.

Most protein powders are way too sweet. Cut with this. Perfect! I use it to cut down on the sweetness of both other flavored whey proteins and beef protein isolate. It literally has no taste. Great product.

This product is exactly what I want out of a whey isolate: easy to mix, nearly flavorless (a bit creamy, no complaints there), and as reasonably priced as possible. Now hits all the marks perfectly. Will absolutely buy again.

I am a bodi builder who have a busy life! I have to have protein shake 3-5 serving a day.
If you are cutting down this is for you!
If you don’t want to eat artificial suger or so on, this is for you!
If you want to save money in diet this is for you!
If you want to cook or bake healthy food, this is absolutely perfect for you!
But, if you are picky on taste, think twice!
I am fine feeling no taste while drinking my shake. Sometimes I add %100 chocolate peanut powder on to it to feel a difference 😃
It is huge and can support whole family or a big person 😃
It mixes well with water, not the best with milk though. I usually add some water on top as well.

I never had stomachache or any issues after my protein shakes.

This stuff is great. I don’t usually write reviews, but I’m really happy that I got this.

I was looking for a protein powder with the lowest cost per gram of protein I could find, and I looked at quite a few different products. Many were about 40 cents per gram, and this 10 lb bag was only 28 cents per gram.

It’s unflavored, so I figured it would be pretty gross, given that many of the other flavored powders I’ve tried weren’t that great. It turns out that other protein powder producers are making theirs taste worse by adding flavors. I mixed a pretty concentrated shake with milk and a serving of this stuff, and it really doesn’t taste like much more than milk. It’s very easy to drink, and I actually look forward to my next protein shake now, instead of the mild dread I felt when preparing to drink a mix of the other flavored stuff I’ve been using.

I added a tiny bit of chocolate caramel coffee creamer to it and it went from fine to straight up delicious. I would drink that mix just for fun, similarly to how one would enjoy a regular chocolate milkshake.

Also, this stuff is more concentrated than most protein powders, so it goes farther. One serving of this is a smaller scoop and contains as much protein as one serving of most other powders which use a larger scoop.

I reckon you could mix this stuff with just about anything and it wouldn’t alter the flavor too much, or at least not nearly as much as typical flavored mixes.
