Light is bright & has multi light patterns, stoplight works with fairly hard brsking

I love this light. It’s super easy to use, hardly has to be charged, and it’s plenty bright. I use this interchangeably on my city bike for riding around town as well as my mountain bike to let faster riders know if they’re about to catch me on the trail. It’s super easy to install and turn on and it makes you much safer for a reasonable price.

To be honest, the main reason I bought this light was because of the saddle rail mount system. It proved to be useless because unless you run your seat all the way back on the rails, the mount is too narrow to fit. The seat rails run further apart toward the back of the saddle and the seat rail mount does not have an adjustable width. My saddle is exactly in the middle of the rails, a very common position, and the light mount is way too narrow to affix to the seat rails at this position. However, there is a strap mount that attaches to the seatpost and it works fine. It is similar to Garmin style mounting where the light affixes with a quarter turn and removes with a quarter turn. No need to unstrap the mount to remove the light. The angle of the mount is not adjustable but it seems to hold the light so that is faces parallel to the ground. As for the light itself, it is very bright and has multiple modes that can accommodate any riding condition, day or night. The light is very small and compact and the case seems very rugged. A couple of very nice design features that should aide in the longevity of the light are that the on off power button is on the top of the light, out of the line of spray that riding in wet conditions will throw at the light. Secondly, the charging port is cleverly located in the center of the mounting ring at the back of the light. Again, this provides additional protection to keep water spray from getting into the port and damaging the light. The rubber port cover seems to fit very snug and secure as well, also providing good protection. These are all areas where the Cygolite Hot Shot that I have used in the past fall short. The buttons on the Cygolite are located on the front of the light, right in the line of water spray and the charging port is on the bottom of the light, again totally unprotected from spray. Those lights are twice the cost and don’t last very long if you ride in wet conditions. The Olight design is much better and should not suffer the same issues as the Cygolite. I use the light mostly in daylight flash mode and the battery life seems to be very good, 5+ hours. Overall the light performs exceptionally well and is thoughtfully designed to provide a long service life with ease of use. I’ve tried many lights over the years, most costing far more, but this Olight is the only one I would recommend. It is a far better value for money and performs better in daily use.

I originally had a Magicshine Seemee 180 and then moved over to the Seemee 200. I then came across this Olight RN 120 (also made by Magicshine) and decided to try this out, and I’m glad that I did.
Even at a 120 lumen rating, the brightness is almost the same as my Seemee 200 but without the secondary LED light that shines downward. I actually like that the RN 120 doesn’t have the secondary LED light and only the rear-facing main LED light. It gives it a much more compact look when it’s hanging under my Ergon SMC saddle. The slightly shorter profile makes the tail light hide better behind my seat post and under the saddle, where the Seemee 200 just looked a bit larger and more noticeable.
I also like the light settings on the RN 120 better, especially the flash modes. The RN 120 has a better look & tempo of flashes compared to my Seemee 180 and 200 lights. Also, it’s cheaper than the Seemee 180 and 200 lights. Albeit, it doesn’t have the motion detection built into it where the light can be used as a brake light like the 180 and 200 tail lights, but I always turn that off (to save battery life) and only use my tail lights for rear oncoming visibility with cars on the road. I included a picture of the RN 120 next to the Seemee 180 with both in the Low Constant mode, which is what we normally ride with at night. Brightness wise, they’re about the same to my eyes, and the 180 is slightly brighter looking on the highest constant mode.
I haven’t tested the battery life yet, but I have the Seemee 200, 180, and 30 TL lights, and all of them seem to last a good amount of time. The 180 and 200 lights do last longer than the 30 TL, and going off the ratings in the spec I assume the RN 120 should last just as long as my Seemee 200. The only weird thing I don’t like is the placement of the charge port, as the rubber cover is right on the back where the quick-release mount is. Not a negative factor as it doesn’t impede anything or make the light quality any worse, but just an odd spot to put the charging port.

I own several Olight brand products for my firearms. This company makes quality stuff, and the RN 120C is no exception.
It’s crazy bright and the motion sensing capability increases illumination as you slow down, exactly like a brake light on a car. function as you brake. There are a few operational modes as well.
My only complaint: there is no pack-or rack-mounting option for this light. Unfortunately, if I’m riding with a pack on my rear rack, the pack blocks the seat post and seat, which seem to be the only locations to accommodate the included mounts.
I’d like to see an optional mount that is capable of securely attaching to a reflector bracket or strap.

love how bright this is – super light…but battery life could be a bit better on the autobrake mode
WIlbury –
Seems high quality, very bright, nice viewing angle (more than 180!) and good battery life. Would buy again.
