When I got this item, it had a piece broken off and it didn’t work properly. I wanted a replacement but they didn’t have any at that time. So when it was back in stock, I sent it back so I could get the replacement at the same price. Well, it was a little after 30 days so I didn’t get reimbursed for the full amount. Just be aware of that. I didn’t know that. That being said…now on to the review of the product itself.
It is very light and appears to be “cheap”. It looks and feel like cheap plastic but from my 5 star review you can see that it actually works great! It has a plastic piece on the bottom so if the fan/heater falls over, it will turn off. That’s a good safety feature, but be careful. That piece was already broken off on the first one when it arrived. It had a smell at first, like a burning rubber type smell, but after continued use the smell has completely gone away. I am amazed at how much heat this little heater gives out. Of course, it’s not going to heat up a huge room, but it’s perfect for small spaces. I put it on the floor at my feet or on top of my desk to provide warmth while I am working. I’ve only used the heater, as it’s winter right now, and it works great. In the summer, I will use the fan. That’s what is so great. You get 2 products in one. It is a heater and a fan. And it is small, so it doesn’t take much room in storage. I like how it is portable and has a handle on the top of it.
It does make noise when it is on. Pretty much every fan or heater makes noise, but I would not say it is too loud. I don’t think it is TOO noisy.

I originally ordered the Optimus H-1322 Portable 2-Speed Heater on December 17, 2013
My office tends to be on the cold and I tend to always be cold, so I really needed a good heater to stick under my desk at work to help warm me up. I used it almost every day during the fall and winter and even a bunch of days in the spring and it worked great – while everyone else was freezing, I was nice and toasty. It was also pretty quiet and never disturbed anyone else in the office (see video).
Unfortunately, our journey came to an end last week when, out of the blue, it just stopped working. I was heartbroken but we had a good run and then I remembered that I bought it on Amazon and that they had a record of my purchase so that I could find the same exact heater and buy it again! Huzzah!
My new heater arrived a few days ago, and while I’ll always be grateful to Optimus #1, I’m sure that Optimus #2 will keep me warm for many more years to come.

Compré este artÃculo porque estaré temporalmente en un lugar donde no hay suficiente protección contra el clima. Lo conseguà a buen precio y me parece una compra atinada, estoy pensando en tener otro para mi casa. Es de tamaño mediano (menos de 30 cm) y bastante ligero, cuenta con tres niveles temperatura y velocidad. Me parece bastante práctico y puede hacer la diferencia en ciertos espacios.
Para usarlo recomendarÃa tenerlo a máxima temperatura y velocidad, asà puede calentar una habitación de tres por tres. En casa hace la diferencia frente a otras habitaciones sin ninguna calefacción. Tiene un botón inferior para apagarse en caso de caer, también cuenta con un apagado automático en caso de sobrecalentamiento.
Al respecto puedo decir que el aparato que compré funciona bien en los rangos mencionados, pero en menor potencia no me da la misma sensación. Yo lo utilizo cuando estoy fuera en una tienda de campaña para cuatro personas y cuando el clima está entre 2º puede hacer el espacio un lugar agradable. Sin embargo, cuando la temperatura exterior sube es difÃcil graduarlo, porque no parece tan potente a niveles menores de calor. También tiende a auto apagarse y encenderse después de cierto tiempo, quizás debido a algún termómetro interno.
Sus ventajas son las mencionadas: es ligero, práctico y con potencia suficiente para hacer agradable un espacio pequeño. Obviamente entre más pequeño mejor el resultado. Sin embargo, puedo decir que en una habitación chica da excelentes resultados.
Las desventajas serÃan: su inconsistencia en cuanto a la temperatura, pues a bajos niveles no funciona tan bien.

I wanted to get a small, portable space heater to use during my kids’ bathtime. It’s freezing in our house in winter, the kids are young, and I just wanted something to help warm up a small, cold room.
Well…. I’d read warnings (other reviews) that said this space heater was noisy. When I first plugged it in, yes, it was kind of noisy. But not enough to bother my (much noisier) kids. However, I did notice something strange. When I first took the unit out of the box, the cord wasn’t wrapped up neatly. You know how basically every electronic appliance you’ve ever bought has a twist-tie around the cord, and the cord and twist-tie are both always wrapped up in a supremely neat manner that makes you think a robot did it? Because no human, no matter how hard you try, can ever replicate the perfection of an out-of-the-box twist-tie?
Not this item. The cord was haphazardly folded a few times, and the twist-tie attached, but not in a neat, a-robot-must-be-responsible way. It looked like I — or one of my kids — had done it. Then I noticed that the (painted on) words/logo on the space heater were scratched off a bit, as if it was, well, used.
Okay, no biggie. I figured — hey — this was SO CHEAP. As long as it works, I’m fine with this. I will not be a prima donna over a space heater.
So I plugged it in, it whirs away. The noise isn’t that bad, and the machine DOES heat up the small room, and quickly. But…and this is a big but…it moves. As in, as soon as I plugged it in, it started shimmying and shaking across the floor. Quickly, too. The cord isn’t that long, but basically, as soon as the unit was plugged in, it would shake and rattle across the floor until it hit something and got tangled with it. Something like, I don’t know, a small pile of (flammable) baby clothes. Or a small (flammable) bathroom rug. Once it hit something, it would continue to vibrate and shake and try to climb OVER whatever it was basically humping. Obviously I turned the thing off or moved it, but… talk about a fire hazard!
I thought, okay, I can’t leave this FAST-MOVING HEATED DEVICE on the floor. I’ll try the counter. So I put it on the counter, plugged it in, and…it basically tried to shoot itself right off the counter, lemming-style, toward the floor.
That’s when I decided: NOPE. This is going back. Thankfully, no issues with returning this to Amazon!
To sum up:

I didn’t expect it to work so well, being so cheap. I’m a broke college student and we leave the heat down very low in our apartment and we live in Michigan where it gets COLD. This little guy keeps me toasty and seriously heats up my whole room. I get too warm with it on sometimes (good thing)! I like to put it facing my feet when I’m at my desk or put it on about a half hour before I go to bed, because my room is like a meat locker. It’s got a little safety thing on it so that if it falls over it will turn off. I wouldn’t ever leave it unattended or sleep with it on though. Just in case.
It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty awesome for such a low price tag. Mine is still fairly new (I got it a month or two ago) so it sometimes still has a weird plasticky or burning smell to it when I first turn it on. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s not super pleasant but it goes away in a minute or so. It has a few settings on it and they don’t really seem to change much when I put it on the other settings. I just always have it on high. There’s a fan too so that might be nice for the summer, but I haven’t used it yet.
