I know this bowl is meant as a serving item, but I’ve found it to the perfect size for my summer salad eating. The low profile allows for prime distribution of the salad elements so you don’t end up with a bunch of the same thing at the bottom of the bowl and the dressing is able to go evenly over a wider area.
In terms of quality, the bowl feels heavy and sturdy. The outside is a textured ceramic while the inside has a beautiful pink glaze. It has held up wonderfully in the dishwasher and has not sustained any scratches from my silverware. I would absolutely order more pieces from this set to have on hand.
A very tiny nitpick was that the sticker on this bowl was very difficult to remove, and it was located in the inside so I couldn’t use it until the sticker was removed. I had to run it through the dishwasher twice to loosen the glue and then still had to scrub it off. I did eventually get it all, but in the future it would be nice to see them use a better quality sticker that didn’t potentially leave glue residue on an eating surface.

My only issue is that I ordered the bowl in Aquamarine and they delivered it in the Moonstone colour instead. Regardless, the bowl is still beautiful, just not the colour I wanted.

These plates are exactly what I’ve been looking for both size-wise and the versatility of the raised rims. The rims make this perfect for pasta, salads and anything besides a soup. The craftsmanship is noticeable and they feel premium. There are a lot of brown pigment dots throughout the glaze, but even looking at the product photos, I can see they’re prevalent. So I think the dots are just to be expected regardless of color ordered.
My only complaint about these is that they sell a 4 pack of these plates but you get zero discount for purchasing all 4 this way. I wasn’t expecting to get a 25% discount, but really? Nothing? Not even $5? So if for some reason you want to mix and match colors, do so without fear of losing out on any discount for buying all 4 at once.

I got this in the aquamarine color which is truly a stunner. As a serving bowl I find it to be a bit small. As a personal salad bowl I find it to be perfect. This is one of the prettiest dishes I have ever seen. I love adding plates and bowls to my collection, and this one is a perfect addition. I have put it in the dishwasher several times with no issues. It is oven safe, microwave safe, freezer safe, and a breeze to clean. It is beautiful to display and fun to eat from. I highly recommend this dish.

This is a beautiful bowl that is the perfect size for serving OR for a personal pasta bowl. The outside is rough stoneware, the inside is smooth coral/pink. Very unusual with a color that would fit into most any set of dishes. It’s hefty without being difficult to lift/carry.

This is a sturdy bowl. The exterior is unglazed so it’s a little rough in your hand. But not unpleasant. The interior is glazed. I got the aquamarine and it’s grey blue. I don’t know the name of the finish but it’s mottled light grey and light blue-grey with scattered small black dots. They aren’t flaws, it’s supposed to look that way. I would have liked it if it were a little more blue though.
The size is very nice. It’s a low sided bowl but works well for pasta and salads. For soups, you would need to be a little careful when transporting it from kitchen to table.
I’ve run it through the dishwasher and it washes up with no problems.
Portmeirion I’ve got a soft sport for because of The Prisoner tv show with Patrick McGoohan from the 60’s. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth a look. But I don’t love the botanicals collection, it’s ok but a little goes a long way. This collection isn’t made in England with their other lines but in Portugal. It’s a very nice quality. The price is not inexpensive since it’s for one plate, but it’s not outrageously priced. Just a little bit on the high end of the range.
Nice bowl. Good size, quality glaze work, just wish it were a bit more blue.
