It definitely has the gold in looks! Quality overall is good. This isn’t a cool touch, side insulated toaster so be careful not to touch the sides during & after cooking. Anything above level 4 makes the sides hot enough to cause minor burns. I read in several articles about toasters that this is common & normal in non-insulated toasters. Just be sure to allow it to rest/cool down before putting it up. Like most toasters you’ll have to work a bit to clean it, but it’s easier than some I’ve had. I do find it cooks my waffles, toast, etc. pretty evenly so far. It’s straight forward, easy to use, & the O.M. is understandable & easy to follow. No smoke has ever come out & I haven’t experienced any bad smells, other than when we did the first burn as the O.M. says to do. Overall I like it so far. Serves its purpose for us & everyone says how cute it is. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars solely because I wish it was made with cool touch sides.
