If you have a high volume business this IS NOT the register for you. I purchased 2 of these in Jan. 2013 and one has already bit the dust. Once you start seeing a PE error it won’t be long until your register will not work. I do however think this would work in a business where you do not do much business.

I called the 800 number for customer service center. The representative said that the machine does not print the total even though in the instructions it shows it printing. In the Easy 1-2-3 Set up it tells you how to switch the machine to begin printing the total, but the rep. said the machine does not print the total. Sorry about your luck.

I actually bought 2 Royal cash registers directly from Ace Depot, not through Amazon. They not only do they have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with, but they are crooks. I purchased, what I thought, was 2 new registers. They turned out to be refurbished ones when they arrived a couple of weeks late. The main page with all the registers showing did not list it as refurbished; when you click on the item and bring up all the specs, it tells you that it is refurbished. So, I guess it is partially my fault for not paying attention to all the details. However, many registers on the main page were listed as refurbished; mine was not. They said there was nothing they could do for me. I was in such as rush to get my business open, and tired of dealing with them, I just decided to keep the refurbished registers. Well, I plug them in to start using them, and one of them is already defective. Some error code was showing, and I couldn’t use the register at all. Spoke with customer service, and they told me to contact Royal to troubleshoot. Once Royal confirms it is defective, Ace Depot will allow me to exchange it out. I call Royal, Royal confirms it is defective, and I let Ace Depot know. They tell me that they will send me another refurbished register, but will have to charge me for it. And once they receive the defective one, they will credit my card. We do this, and I never get the credit. Customer service tells me it usually takes over a week after they receive the defective item, to issue me the credit. Well, during this time, the other register I purchased originally went bad as well. Same error code popped up. Thank god I got the replacement register before this occurred; otherwise, I would’ve been unable to run my business. We go through the entire process again, and I get charged again for the replacement. I let them know that I still didn’t receive a credit for the first defective register. She said that they’ll just issue it when the second one comes in, b/c it’ll be easier for them to issue one credit rather than two. I said “no,” and that I needed the first credit immediately. I was running a start-up biz, and things were tight. It was only $100, but I needed every cent. She said that she would get approval from her manager, and that they would issue me the credit. It never happened. I called and asked what was going on, and they said that they were still waiting on the registers to be inspected or something along those lines. At that point, they would issue me the credit. Well, it’s be well over a month since I sent back the second defective register, and I still didn’t receive a credit for either one. So, I ended up paying 4 times for 2 refurbished registers. Both of the replacements are working ok so far, but who knows how long that will last. I contacted American Express to dispute those charges for the replacements. AMEX is usually pretty good about fighting for the clients, so hopefully, they don’t pay Ace Depot. They are crooks, and I will never use them again.
