Used as a pressure mount, it works well and is sturdy. But some pieces of dry wall came off from the areas that were under the pressure cushions. As a swing gate it works very well. A previous reviewer cautioned that the included paper mount guide is not accurately measured. After installing the hinged pieces, I inserted the gate and used a level to figure out where the cupped pieces should go. I promptly gave myself a cookie for good, logical thinking. We open and close two of these gates several times a day and after a few months we still haven’t encountered any issues. They’re sturdy and easy to use, but not so easy for most who are under three to figure out how to open.

Product arrived with the parts/instructions bag firmly jammed inside the gate’s closed space. No matter how I tried to open and slide the gate to an open position, it would not budge. Multiple popping sounds while attempting to slide open the gate. After 20 minutes, and the gate still firmly jammed shut, I gave up and contacted Amazon for a return. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this product.

It’s completely toddler proof! I absolutely love knowing that my toddler is safe and secure with this gate. I love that it can be mounted and used as a swinging gate or can be used as a standard baby gate. Definitely the best purchase I’ve made in awhile!

I purchased this item to confine dogs to a single area in my home, although it’s also useful for small children. It does a great job for keeping dogs and kids wandering, or going up the stairs. Since it’s held in place by friction and rubber pads, I would never use it at the top of a flight of stairs. But I think that’s just common sense. It’s very easy to adjust to fit a doorway, and easy to fix into place with one hand. Well worth the price and excellent quality.

I have an old FisherPrice pressure gate (30+ years old) that I used with my kids and have now gotten out for my grandkids. I do put it at the top of the stairs; I always supervise the kids there but the placement is pretty reliable unless a kid tries to intentionally shake it with some force. I could lift the gate out and replace it with one hand and the gate width is locked in place, so it would be ready to go the next time you need it. Of course that item is no longer available for purchase. We have since built an outdoor deck and I needed an additional gate out there. I don’t want to permanently install one, and this was the closest to my old gate. This product has been, on balance, a disappointment. It is a pressure gate, but you have to use both hands to place it in an opening, and the procedure is, IMO, awkward to do. You also cannot lock the width of the gate in place. And, I don’t know why, but the pressure pads do not grip side walls or posts as well as my old gate. It does not take much pushing to displace the installed gate. I can forgive everything else, but this last point makes the gate very unreliable. I do use it as it visually keeps toddlers from heading to the stairs, and prevents a child from tripping and falling down the stairs accidentally. But, if a child intentionally heads over to it, I feel compelled to go over and “spot” until they move away from the area. I will say, we used it for one of the “granddogs” this last weekend, and that worked fine.

I was worried when purchasing that it would be hard to install but it was alright. My only complaint is that the pack with the screws and instructions was placed inbetween the 2 panels of the gate, and without the instructions being accessible i had a hard time figuring out how to open the gate enough to retrieve the pack. Took me a good 10 minutes of fiddling with it before I finally got the handle to release enough to allow me to slide them apart and get the packet out. Im not sure why sealing the instructions and hardware inside the gate was implemented, but it was a bit frustrating. I was worried i might damage the gate trying to get it open since i wasn’t sure exactly how to work it yet. Other than that its installed easily and works fine in keeping my special needs 4yr old out of trouble. Overall good product, just a bit of an annoyance while trying to unpack everything.

I use this gate for our front door, in order to allow inflow of cool air in the Summer. It’s easy to set up and take down (with one hand)….cheaper than a screen or storm door. The gate is attractive, sturdy and is safe for keeping our small dogs and cat from escaping!

Seems like a solid gate. The bad thing is the instructions are locked between the two panels. The unlock position is only for quick removal from a doorway. To slide the gate open: pull the handle up to the unlock position. Hold the side button in and pull the handle up to the double arrows. It should now slide.
