I find this product very good for the money. I placed it in the hall between two bedrooms. It circulates the air quite well and humidifies just enough. Very quite, doesn’t disturb our sleep. The water tank is enough for one days use. Would recommend.

My daughter has had one for years and recommended it to me. The air in our bedroom is perfect now.

I’ve used it for a little over a year now, and it’s fantastic. I had to move in middle of the pandemic due to the rising cost of rent. But with rising demand in apartments, we didn’t have much choice aka carpeted floor. Dad suggested me this, and you can tell it works cuz whenever there’s a power outage and i forget to power it back on for a few days, I’ll be sneezing haha.

Just remember to vacuum or wash the rear filter cover. I forgot to, and dust was caked on – which explained why it felt like it wasn’t working properly at one point.

The picture is when we were cooking bacon and it smoked lol. It immediately knew there’s something’s up. (Orange color) So when the light changes color, there’s a quiet ticking sound. Honestly it doesn’t bother me. In fact, I’d rather it make noise since it let’s me know something’s in the air. I don’t have a great sense of smell, so I can’t tell if something’s burning. But this does! I know that’s not it’s intended purpose but it helped me a couple of times. That said, it’s soooo quiet. If I have anything going on in the background, I won’t hear it.

I don’t use the humidifier part, but the humidity sensor is helpful!

    Greatly improves air quality.

Purchased via Amazon Prime two months ago, new, for 299. Prices fluctuate a lot on these, and other vendors charge even more.

In a dry climate, on high fan speed (I have it in a larger bedroom and as such it really only works on high) you have to refill the H2O tank twice a day.

    It’s worth the hassle.

Over the years I’ve tried Winix, Honeywell, Friedrich, Austin Air, Holmes, and others too cheap to mention. This Sharp has worked the best of the bunch. Not a miracle worker, but does what it says it will.

Vastly superior to Winix, no contest.

Filters – expensive & not available everywhere. Wish the unit came with at least one extra charcoal filter. 3-5 year filter life seems impossible, could happen if your air is already pretty clean. I’ll be surprised if I get two years out of this filter set.

Looks great, which is a nice bonus. The color-changing air quality indicator is a very nice feature.

The clicking of the Plasmacluster is noticeable on lower fan speeds.

The unit is designed & built well. Plastic, but doesn’t feel cheap. Recessed handles make it easy to move.

Really has improved the quality of sleep in the bedroom.

This is is my second unit and is needed to keep humidity at desired levels. The design appears to be exactly the same although my first unit is well over 10 years old. It is built well, works well and worth its relatively high cost if you are thinking you will need its functions for many years. It does have some drawbacks: there are several filters and some (HEPA) are expensive and you have almost no choices in where to get them; there is routine maintenance required (anything with water almost always does) at least every two or three months; and, the water tank needs refilling twice a day (could be bigger). Final thought, I snapped it up when I saw it available and had the money.

We have used this for years in our bedrooms and it really helps with our allergies. I’ve got the smaller version for my daughter’s room. Make sure to get some good quality citric acid to clean the humidifier filter monthly and this thing will last forever. Good food grade citric acid is available here on Amazon and that’s what I use, along with a 5 gallon HD bucket. I use the water tank for this thing to weight down the filters carefully so they stay fully submerged.

Its not very loud and creates a light white noise for you that isn’t too obtrusive.

The filters all last a pretty long time and have different change frequencies outlined in the manual. You can get all of the filters from here on Amazon.

My allergies are so bad I have to get weekly allergy shots and this really helps. I was also able to get a letter of medical necessity from my allergist so we could claim this on our medical FSA.

It works great, cleans out dutsy air quickly and efficiently. I would prefer to manage the humidity myself, but the way around it is to turn off “auto” and manually change the fan speed.

Makes really annoying clicking sound. Sharp customer service was extremely unhelpful, saying it’s normal. But it only started 4 months after buying it.. i can’t use it anymore it drives me nuts.

I’ve had this machine for 2 years. I bought it to help with VOCs from resin 3d printing and general air quality in my apartment which I feel it helps with. I like the display which shows air quality. I don’t use the humidifier much since it is humid where I live. I did use it once though and it did it’s job well. I usually just have it on clean air, max fan setting, and ion generation on.

For about six months it was in a cigarette smoke environment. When I got it back I had to change the filters to get rid of the smell and was honestly pleasantly surprised that the smoke smell was gone from the machine after that. I don’t think it did much for the smoky environment though.

Unfortunately, the ION generator function quit working and there was no replacement or anything I could find online. I could tell it wasn’t working because the periodic high pitch buzzing sound turned into a low constant buzz.

I was able to fix it thankfully. However it involved almost completely dissembling the machine. There are actually two ion generators which is why there is an alternating sound. You can see them without any disassembly if you look through the top where the air comes out. One is towards the top and the other is towards the bottom. The attached picture is from outside looking at the lower one. You might be able to see if yours are dirty.

I attached a few pictures of before and after cleaning the generators. I knocked off the crusty white stuff with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush but that didn’t actually do the trick for me. I ended up taking the cover off and rubbing it with acetone. careful not to use to much as it will melt the plastic. I cleaned the outer ring as well as the spike.

If you are looking to take this thing apart it is relatively straight forward after removing the filters. There are no plastic clips. Once you remove the screws the pieces can be easily removed to reveal more screws. I think there were 21 screws in total. All the same size Phillips head. Took me about 2 hours. Just keep taking big parts off till you finally take the top/front off. Careful here because there are wires attached to the front with little slack. I laid the machine on its side.

It’s really unfortunate that Sharp does not allow easy access to these generators as they seem to in their other products, because they do need regular cleaning.

We used to own another Sharp’s air purifier and humidifier in Japan. In Canada, the air quality is good but humidity is low. With this equipment, the air humidity will be much better inside the room.

I think this air purifier/humidifier is worth the money. You can barely hear it running. The air is so much cleaner. I’ve noticed my husband and one of our house pets has stop sneezing. Very simple easy to use controls (that I love) easy to fill water reservoir. We have two lap dogs and a cat in the house and its so hard to keep the pet hair swept up. The hair was always blowing around but with the humidity being higher its easier to sweep and keep house cleaner. Love it.
