DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON THIS MODEL YH 677. It works beautifully for about a day then the mechanisms begin messing up. The key mechanisms don’t hold and the springs begin to buzz and there is air in the low register when using the b key mechanism for lower octave notes.
*We went through 2 of them*. Yamaha replaced one (they would not replace an instrument if they didn’t know there was a fault with it) and we’ve had the other repaired FOUR TIMES in the first year.
At first we were willing to accept that it could be my daughters technique, as she is a young collegiate still learning but to be honest as a sophomore, she is in the 3 tier wind ensemble so we don’t believe it is her error anymore.
It simply seems to be a faulty model and I would not waste money on it.
*Yamaha 577 seems to be excellent so far and even the 462 model has been working very well for her (she had to *rent the 462 while waiting for the 677 to be repaired for the 4th time in a year. They finally sent us a brand new one and it had the same issues AFTER ONE DAY OF PLAYING!)
If you are spending money on a Yamaha go with the 577 professional of 462 Intermediate. Save the extra $500-800 and a lot of headaches. The 677 has problems that need to be worked out.
