Zesty Paws Advanced Cognition Soft Chews For Dogs

I love Zesty paws but this product does not work and it’s a waste I bought something else and it works much better

I’m trying these from my 4 pound toy shiztsu who has serious dementia and degenerative myopathy. He’s stopped eating and stares off into space. He’s losing function of his back legs and it’s just heartbreaking to watch. He’s only 9 and this is progressing a warp speed since last month.
While hem’s not in pain according to the vet, his eyes are empty and lifeless. I know we’re losing him but I’m not willing to give up yet! If you’re reading this, you’re probably not either.

I’m writing this review even though it’s only been two days. If your dog is not eating and will not consume one of these chews, you can mash it up with a little water or better yet coconut oil to liquify. Then put it in his mouth with a little dropper. My little guy Kilo gobbles it up with no problem along with a liquid calorie and vitamin supplement. I’m using the coconut oil for calories and because it has fatty acids. I’m not sure if we see any improvement quite yet but I wanted to suggest the liquifying technique to anyone who might skip these because their dog isn’t chewing solid food.

I’ll come back with an update in 2 weeks. God speed to all of you dealing with the impossibly heart wrenching, slow and painful loss of a beloved pet with dementia and degenerative nerve issues. I’d hug you all if I could!

Update:
It’s been two weeks and these had made a DRAMATIC difference. Kilo is eating again, the sparkle is back in his eyes, he’s engaging and meets me at the door, he’s even walking better and not falling. Its been nothing short of a miracle!! We missed a couple days last week and it there was a very noticeable change for the worse – slept all day, refused to eat, staring into space. I’m just speechless and incredibly grateful to this company for giving us more time together and for Kilo, a better quality of life!

Update Feb. 9th:
We did end up losing Kilo at the end of January. Ultimately, he just stopped eating and drinking altogether. Even mixing the supplement with coconut oil which he loved was a no go. It was just a week from when stopped eating and to his leaving this earth. He died at home in my arms, he was not suffering but his little brain just had run out of steam.
I wanted to thank Zesty Paws and the Alpha Brain company for creating this powerful product. It gave us 3 more quality months we never would have had without it. I wish I had known about it sooner. Neurological disease is insidious and cunning. It can easily present as something else and why it was diagnosed only by process of elimination after several months of Kilo going downhill. Cognitive Bites was our Hail Mary Amazon order that actually worked and went to war against the illness, alleviating symptoms for months. Most importantly, it gave Kilo and I a bit more of life’s greatest gift, the gift of time.

My 13 1/2 year old greyhound wasn’t showing as bad symptoms as others have described, but he did display some behaviors that worried me. He used to stare off into space often, had a low appetite so he lost a few pounds, and generally seemed “lost” for a large part of the day. Sometimes I would let him out to do his business and he would forget what he was doing and just stand in the back for several minutes in one spot just completely still. I even had to call his name a few times for him to really “hear” me and respond to me (he isn’t deaf). He was almost a shell of the dog he used to be. I decided to do some research and give these a try. They absolutely reverted him back to his maybe 8 or 9 year old self. He’s always super alert, no longer has these “lost” episodes and his appetite has increased so much that he is eating more than he did even maybe a year or two ago! It has only been about 2 weeks. My whole household is so happy to see this transformation. These supplements are expensive but so worth it to me. He will be on them for the rest of his life !

Our black dog Mila, is an 11 lb Norwich Terrier Mix. She is adopted and is over 13 years old. She is slowing down, was not finishing her meals and she was often found standing and staring into space.

I prefer to try supplements first. More times than not, I can’t tell if they are making a difference. I did research and decided to give this one a try first.

In this case, I do see a marked improvement. I ‘treated’ her for 90 days and forgot to order more. Within a few days, the staring into space returned.

We also realized that the issue with eating was lack of focus. She used to get easily distracted and lose interest. It’s so much easier now that she eats all her food at mealtime, instead of bringing her back to her bowl multiple times.

I just got her second canister and I plan on keeping it in stock.

She must be improving because she knows where her Cognition Bites are stored and she asks for them every day at the same time!!!
