Was too small and did little to heat the tank!

A great little heater for my hermit crabs’ tank. It is very mild heat, which is good because I don’t want them to get too hot. I did put two of these on my 10 gallon tank because it didn’t seem like one was quite doing the job. The two heaters seem to keep the temperature right in the preferred range. I keep my house fairly cool in the winter, and I see the crabs dig right beside the heater, so I think they enjoy it.

This item does not work as described, not enough heat at all, small cage and hasn’t changed the temperature at all

  4. Jen Waves “Hi!”

Was worried to start, because it was not as warm as my other heater, but after a day it seemed to “catch up”. I ordered this as a second heater in my 10 gallon crabitat because my little guys weren’t as active when we had the air conditioning on. Seems to be working fine. My little guys are active again.

The heater works great on a glass 10 gal tank. I would not place this on a plastic tank. I think it would melt. The heater does not work well on a 20 gal tank. It does well in heating up the substrate near the heater. My hermie will go near the heater when needed and go away when he is warm enough. However, it has not made a difference in the over temperature in the tank. I have covered the sides, back, and top of the tank to reduce exposure of the glass to the air temp around it. We keep our house on 68 degrees F, and that isn’t warm enough for the hermie. Overall, I am very pleased with the heater and will be purchasing a larger one for our 20 gal tank.

I have had this set up under my hedgehog’s (plastic) cage for about a month now and she absolutely loves it. She sleeps in a little tent but our apartment is kind of drafty during the winter. She kept bolting for the heat register every time I let her out to play on the floor, so I assumed she’d like something to keep her warmer. I was absolutely correct because she just loves her little hot spot. She always lies with her belly flat on the tent floor, while before she used to curl up into a ball to keep warm. I’m really happy with this purchase. The price was reasonable, it was super easy to set up (literally just slapped it onto the bottom of her cage and plugged it in), and she’s very happy and cozy now 🙂

Heats one side of a 10 gallon glass tank. Works better in warmer months but only 1 heater at a time has trouble heating tank in cold months. Would recommend to buy 2 of them for the colder months. This also makes the tank dryer

I bought this for my crab tank that is similar to the setup pictured on the box. My tank may be 1.5 gallons. I have the heater placed on the side. The heater is not maintaining a good heat inside of the tank. The inside temperature is usually 64 – 69 degrees. I know the top of the tank has a lot of ventilation. I added some plastic to the top to keep the heat in better, but I can’t get a temperature over 69 degrees. I think I will return this for something better. I have used the larger Zoo Med heaters for my reptiles and they were always good. This small one isn’t cutting it for me.

We have a plastic hermit crab cage with plastic bottom, metal bar sides and removable plastic lid. I attached this heater (has a sticky back) to a large dinner size plate then set the cage on top of it. The raised sides of the plates prevents the plastic cage to sit directly on the heater but plenty of heat radiates up through the stones we have on the bottom of the cage. The crabs are much more active now that they have a warmer place to sleep. Remember to spray them or keep them moist do the heat doesn’t dry them out.
