This is one of the best things I’ve purchased in awhile. I was honestly skeptical about weather or not this would help, but I was desperate to find a solution to all the dead birds my cat was leaving for me.
She’s had this for a couple of months & so far, I’ve only found one poor bird in my yard, which is a vast improvement. Before the collar, there would have been 3-6 a week. I’m shocked and impressed that it works so well and extremely grateful.
The collar is a little tricky to put on at first but I figured it out. The Cat doesn’t seem to mind wearing it and it actually looks cute, though a bit silly. It does get dirty after awhile, but it’s easy to hand wash.
I’m so happy I tried this and can’t recommend it highly enough. This has saved countless bird’s lives and allows me peace of mind. Eternally grateful!

As far as the product itself, it’s a good quality. A little pricey in my opinion for what it is and should probably include a break away collar as an option. Everyone thinks my cat belongs in a circus now, but it’s grown on us in only a few days. It doesn’t bother her and can go about all her normal activities and doesn’t get in the way. It may work, to keep her from getting birds, but not 100%. The 2nd day she brought one home… She was an outdoor rescue, which means she’s a very proficient hunter and has access to outdoors because of our dogs. Other than making her overweight, I’m not sure how else to keep her from getting birds.

My cat was catching chipmunks on a daily basis, and although he wasn’t killing them it was definitely a horrible experience for the little critters. I wasn’t sure if this collar would work as it’s supposed to be more helpful to birds – but it’s been great! He’s been wearing it for 3 weeks and not one Chipmunk has been caught! He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it and he looks incredibly handsome in it. It has nighttime reflective edging which is nice if your cat is out in the evening. Will definitely buy again when this one wears out.
Update: The little bugger managed to get his collar off for about an hour today and managed to catch another chipmunk! Note, the product itself attaches to your pet’s existing collar, so it was his regular collar he managed to unclasp, and with it – the birdsafe collar was also removed. To me this is further proof that the chipmunks are warned away with the birdsafe collar and walk right into his path when he’s not wearing it. So happy I bought it!

So far it’s working really well! I was skeptical but desperate. I did buy an extra breakaway collar so that I could leave the BirdsBeSafe cover on one and hang it up by the door and then have a “plain” collar to switch to when she’s indoors. I don’t like her collar-less if she slips out, but I also found threading the fabric cover over the collar every time a little too time consuming. Now that we have a system…it’s really great. Cat doesnt seem to mind now that she associates the collar with fun outdoors. That took a little time. We didn’t realize the reflective edge is SO reflective —it’s really an unexpected safety bonus on these days that get dark early. I never leave reviews but it seemed selfish to just look at all the other cute cats.

I love these collars! My cats moved from Florida to Ohio with me and I was worried about them doing a number on our local songbird and small mammal population. First of all, it makes my cats look like absolute clowns so everyone in the neighborhood knows who they belong to. I was worried about them losing them in the thorny bushes at the edge of my property, but the two times in three weeks they have lost their collars (actually a good track record for my cats, they lose their plain collars more when they wrestle), they lost them by getting stuck in a tangle of branches (not caught in thorns) and backed out of them with the collar still done up (i have them in quick release collars). It’s also pretty easy to find these collars because they are so bright and have a reflective piping on the edge. The fabric is densely woven enough that thorns don’t catch, it retains its stiffness even after being wet, and so far my cats have yet to catch a bird! I’m really glad I got these, my cats are young and grew up as strays, and I love letting them outside to burn off energy while keeping my local ecosystem as undisturbed as possible. Great product!!

We rescued a feral cat, that has turned somewhat domesticated. That said, he wants out every single day. He will cry and meow constantly, if he doesn’t get out. Unfortunately, he has killed at least three birds a week during our beautiful summer. The bells on the collars do not work. Letting him out late afternoon, does not work. We put up a six and a half foot high privacy fence, does not work. This collar WORKS.
Not one bird since we have bought it. He did however get a mole, but I was able to get it from him and bring it to safety. Moles can’t see so that’s not the fault of the corporation or company that makes these colors.

Pretty good quality of product. I put it on my cat and she was not bothered. She went about her day like normal. After a day of having it on she came back with a bird. So clearly it seems the birds do not see much change with the collar cover. Also, this product was oddly expensive. It was like seven dollars by itself, not to mention it required extra four dollars for shipping. I have amazon prime so all my shipping is free. This is the first thing that I have had to pay shipping for. Overall it was like eleven or twelve dollars for this little strip of fabric. I definitely should have made this myself. I know how to make this and it would cost like 50 cents.

Case in point this STuPID “birdBeSafe” collar. Not only does my cat look like a clown but a MURDEROUS BIRD KILLING CLOWN.
For any cat with an average or above IQ this is nothing to them, if your cat is maybe special and really old and can barely move perhaps you could consider it.
BUT NOT FOR NORMAL CATS- IT DOESNT WORK- and frankly read some of the 5 star reviews- they even say their cats still killed with it ON!!
Not to mention all this is, is a cheap piece of fabric sewn into sort of a tube that you put the actual cat collar inside. LOLOL. MY CAT COULD HAVE SEWN A BETTER PRODUCT.
