Had my mechanic put on brakes ge said they were going to make noise because of the slots; they actually make noise while I’m driving and sounds REAL bad when I back-up

Needed new rotors and brake pads. These work great on my Santa Fe. Highly recommend.

After I put them on they squeaked and it wasn’t going away. I could tell the problem was the little aluminum shims by the sound they made, and also that the sound didn’t change whether I was driving or stepping on the brakes.
It turned out that 2 little tabs on the aluminum shims were touching the outer edge of the rotor, scraping at it while it turned. Not the braking surface, the thin edge of the disc. My mechanic said next time, keep the original rusty shims and just clean them and reuse them with the new pads
If yours are making the same noise, just bend those little tabs up slightly so they aren’t touching the outer edge of the rotor

The first set i got for 1 vehicle were warped and these make unbearable noise, will not purchase any more products from Detroit Diesel and Amazon should not sell/market their product.

Will be ordering the rear ones soon. So far so good. Yes, they make noise. I work in engineering so I can help you understand it this way… that slight sound you hear is normal. Cross drilled and also slotted. They make noise due to the drill holes and slot. But it will fade away a bit but you will still have a slight. But your braking is going to be phenomenal. You will FEEL the difference in a good way. Oh and also, I have to put it out there, ot can also be possibly the shims hitting the rotor just mold them to fit in a little better. Recommend
