“It wants to be a P Bass when it grows up.” That was the first thought I had when I opened the box but this bass plays and sounds great. I am an old fart and have a few health issues and was finding it hard to move my fingers fast enough on my full size P Bass so for the price I thought I would give this a try. It has not disappointed me I love this bass. It is a lot lighter than my full scale approx. 6 lbs. vs 10 lbs. and the fret board is much easier to navigate for my arthritic hand than a full size. I would recommend this for anyone with smaller hand and those that have slight movement issues in there hands. Photo is not that great but it will give you a rough idea of the size difference. The only negative I have found is that it is hard to find accessories like pickguards and flat wound strings (I settled for ground wounds which I have never tried before but now I found them to be a nice alternative).

I injured my left hand, making it impossible to play long scale basses anymore, so I started looking around for short scale instruments. Along with bass ukuleles and mini acoustics, I saw the Fender mini and decided to give it a shot. Since I’ve been playing Fenders all my life it seemed like a no brainer. I saw the reviews that said they needed lots of set up and adjustments, so I was prepared for that. Maybe the techs at Fender read the reviews too, because mine was dead on perfect right out of the box. Intonation, neck, string height, pickups, all perfect. And I love the satin neck instead of the sticky gloss finish that Fender sometimes uses. I agree the strings are not the best, and that is literally my only quibble. I’ve owned a lot of basses over the years, but I think I take the most satisfaction from this one, because it lets me play real bass again. And for anyone who cares, it has a really nice “cool factor”. This is a great deal all around.

Size is more suited for a child beginner player than an adult but sounds and looks great. Neck truss rod, bridge string height and attenuation will need to be set up to make it playable.

Purchased for my daughter’s 8 birthday the smaller scale is great for kids. Also it’s much lighter than a full size bass. I was impressed with the bass also would be great for practice.

I own squires and fenders. This squire is made in Indonesia and the n3ck and body are top notch. The hardware and electronics are what make it cheap, and it is adequate for beginners. I immediately ripped off both and put in GOTOH hardware, an EMG Pbass active pickup system ( you’ll have to route out a battery compartment) and customized the pickguard. Lastly, d’addorio nylon wound stings. This thing is extremely fun to play! Good for beginners, or experienced bass players who want something unique in their arsenal (with some upgrades of course), and even folks with sort arms and fingers that make a full or short scale too hard to play. Also very light and fits in a strat guitar case no problem.

    All around great buy.

I’ve been playing guitar for 20 years and now finally just started to get into bass guitar as well. The bass sounds great. It’s a very tood budget friendly bass guitar. Now I can do some easy jamming to songs if I don’t feel like playing guitar. Highly recommend!

This is called a mini. The body is a little small, the neck compared to a regular bass is 8 inches shorter.
I prefer this model as it is very close to my Fender Squier 6 string neck. SO,,,, switching from guitar to bass and back is easier. The feel is very much the same, my muscle memory works with both.
    It plays great, sounds great.

It is adorable, very comfy to hold, light, and it doesn’t take too much space so it’s portable. As someone who’s learning how to play, it feels very good quality. The only thing I might change is the string’s. I don’t know how to explain it but sometimes it sound like if you were hitting a can or a mental surface. Like I said I’m a noob but I bet the sound could be much better. Overall I love it and it is a great way to start in my opinion.

Well, I got mine! It was an “open box” one so I got it slightly cheaper. I have to assume that the previous buyer didn’t like the fact that every tuner key was loose. Not hard to tighten but they are the “cheap” type. They’re good now! I’ve been using a U-Bass lately, recorded a CD with one, but Fender makes good stuff and the size is perfect. Like I said, be prepared to set the whole guitar up and dress the frets a bit. I haven’t played it yet but I love it! I added a photo of my completed bass. Sounds great!
