Buy this food! Your fish will thank you.
Aquarium hobbiest for decades. Not going to say just how many decades because that’s just depressing! I am always on the lookout for high quality foods for my fishes. I have had ponds over the years and realized how many insects my fish would eat and often wondered why fish foods didn’t contain insects. High in fiber, easily digested. I stumbled on Fluval Bug Bites the other day and the first two ingredients were Insect larvae and salmon. I knew I had to try it. Ordered on a Friday, received it on Sunday. Love Prime shipping!

I opened the package and couldn’t get the plastic off fast enough to test out this new food. I quickly opened the twist off lid and the freshness seal came off into my hand. I hate when that happens. How much does that seal really preserve freshness if it doesn’t stay on? I bought the med-large size granuals. I put the food in and it sinks immediately, my bottom feeders went nuts! No really, I mean nuts over this food. I have a school of 6 clown loaches and they ate enough that the bellies were bulging (I’d say, they ate too much) but they wanted more. Historically, my clown loaches were very picky and I could only get them to eat two brands of food inconsistently. My bristlenose pleco (who never comes put with the lights on) had to come out and get his share. My angelfish don’t like eating off the bottom but even the three of them couldn’t resist and began eating Fluval Bug Bites off the bottom.

I am so pleased that something lived up to the hype.

My tropical fish loved these. Very much value for money. Lasted about a month and I was feeding them twice a day. They couldn’t get enough of them.

I raise varieties of shrimp, snails, coridora julli, ottocinclus, hillstream loach, snails and betta. In combination with SHRIMP CUISINE, they all love the mix of feed I do every alternate or 3 days. Even the plants have been growing quite rapidly from all the fish waste. I am certain the aqua creatures have grown accustomed to feed time. They know when I am near the tank, and bring out the feed containers. It’s like they can smell the food out of the water because even the elusive creatures come out when they “smell” the food.

I was stressing out because my new betta wouldn’t eat. I tried pellets, flakes, freeze dried blood worms. He just spit it all out like a little gremlin “pa-tooey”. As soon as I put this in, he eagerly darted to catch the falling pellets. I got the medium-large and it’s still very small, so that size is good for a betta. It does sink quickly, so feed very little at a time. I ordered the bug bite flakes, too. Hopefully he likes that just as much. On another note, please note that betta fish need at least a 5 gallon tank with a water filter and heater. They are tropical fish and need the temperature to be between 78-80 degrees to be healthy and happy. I have an 8 gallon biorb that seems to be perfect for one betta.

These bug bites do not float. I have a 49 gallon tank of mostly bottom feeders that just love this treat. Someone asked me about feeding these to snails? I don’t know what snails eat but if they feed on leftovers just sitting on the floor. Try this .

My fish (assorted tropical community+betta) all like this food. The crumbles are fairly small (I bought the large size) and not consistently sized. It works well for my community with fish from <1" to 6". The bottom feeders, shrimp, and snails also like it. When it is sprinkled on the water it spreads out and pushes my floating plants aside (something to do with oils in it maybe?). It also doesn't stay floating for long, but that works fine for me.

My betta fish would not eat until I introduced him to this stuff. Now he literally jets to the top hoping to get fed every time I walk by his tank. It’s almost like this food is a drug to him. Order the small food size or else the chunks will be too large and you’ll have to break them up for a betta. Floats for plenty of time to allow surface feeding, but this stuff is so good that my betta will also bottom feed for it as well!

My fish loves it – does not matter which one all of them goes for it just be carefull as they seems tastier than any flakes, so if you feed fish with flakes and those at the same time – fish will go for those ignoring flakes completely 🙂

Overall seems great, fish happy to get those even as a treat 🙂 and they take long time to dissolve so no dramas with junk floating all the aquarium.
