I’ve been extremely frustrated by a considerably more expensive MicroLife arm cuff blood pressure monitor for the past couple of years. Purchased from Costco, unfortunately I waited for a full year or more before unboxing and trying it out (my bad). Since first trying out that other device, it has always given me inflated and inconsistent readings despite the fact that it seems to be a high quality, feature rich blood pressure monitor. Other reviewers for that flawed device voice similar complaints in their reviews. When your blood pressure monitor performs in such a flawed manner, it’s worthless and I gave up on it – as one should!
So this week I decided to look at what blood pressure monitors Amazon has to offer. This item was listed as an “Amazon’s Choice”, it appears to be identical to another off-brand blood pressure monitor that also earned “Amazon’s Choice” status, and the reviews for both are excellent. So at this excellent $20 price point I figured it was well worth trying out. I received the item very quickly (today), and having learned my lesson in the past, I tested it out immediately. The result? I am EXTREMELY pleased with this blood pressure monitor!
This blood pressure monitor has the look, touch and feel of good quality for a device at this price point. It’s not loaded with features and all kinds of “bells and whistles”, but it’s impressive. Most importantly, it does what it should, and it seems to be consistent and accurate. It’s compact and stores nicely in the included hard case. I appreciate the voice feature that allows the device to clearly speak instructions and results. Couples will appreciate the feature that allows two separate users to share this monitor while registering their own readings. I find this wrist blood pressure monitor to be far more convenient to use, store and transport than the larger, bulkier upper arm variety. This monitor comes with instructions and information that is printed on one large glossy, durable sheet that will obviously hold up over time.
The only potential criticism I can think of may or may not be valid, but I THOUGHT the monitor’s description said that the monitor includes a feature that identifies an irregular heartbeat. Perhaps it does, but I haven’t yet been able to confirm whether that is true (and again, I could simply be mistaken or have overlooked the feature at this point).
But all-in-all, I’m extremely happy with this monitor at this excellent price. It feels great to FINALLY have an accurate, easy-to-use blood pressure monitor that I can use on a regular daily basis! Check out my attached short demo video and see and hear for yourself.

This wrist blood pressure monitor is very compact. It comes with a plastic case that makes it very easy to pack for traveling. It meets our needs perfectly with one minor exception. The recharging port is a micro USB instead of the newer USB C. It does come with a recharging cable so it’s not a big deal. It’s just one more piece to keep track of. The display is not back lit so there must be sufficient light to read the display. So far accuracy seems to be good when compared to other monitors that we use and with results from nurses manually measuring blood pressure. It’s easy to use, easy to read results, and it’s relatively quick.

Having tried both types of electronic blood pressure monitoring devices, I believe the type that inflates around the wrist is a lot more convenient to use than than the one that inflates around the upper arm because it’s easier to put in place and doesn’t require you to remove a long sleeve shirt. If you are wanting to monitor your blood pressure at home, I virtually guarantee you’ll be a more faithful user of a wrist device.
Measurement experts often talk about “validity” and “reliability.” Some physicians feel that BP measures obtained with the arm device are somewhat more accurate (i.e., validity). However, for home-use, the placement of the wrist cuff is a lot more consistent over the course of monitoring your BP on successive days, and therefore the reliability of the BP measures you will obtain with the wrist device seems to be quite a bit better. This means that changes in the measures you record from day to day are more likely to reflect real physiologic changes in BP rather than artefacts arising from variations in cuff placement. The best advice is to (a) follow all the “Ready to Measure” directions carefully, (b) use the device at about the same time each morning (before breakfast and before your morning coffee!), (c) take three measures and average them, and (d) record these daily averages in a diary to share with your health care professional. This data will be extremely useful in making treatment decisions relative to hypertension (e.g., effects of diet and exercise, changes involving stressful life circumstances, decisions to start or change antihypertensive meds). Think about the value of these recordings relative to the single-shot recording the nurse obtains after you’ve been hustled into the examining room. Which data would you prefer to have decisions regarding your blood pressure based upon?
The produce is excellent. The only piece of advice I would add here pertains to the “ON-OFF” switch on the side of the monitor. You’ll quickly discover that it’s best just to keep this device “ON” all the time. The device can only be charged if the switch is in the “ON” position, and furthermore, you will lose the date and time settings and will have to go through the process of re-entering this information if you ever slide the switch to the “OFF” position. So, avoid the impulse to turn the device off after you’re done getting your recordings each morning. Just set it down and in a minute it will automatically go into “SLEEP” mode. The device uses only about 2% of its charge when it’ sleeping. Now go enjoy your morning coffee.

This works like a charm. I use it daily to monitor my blood pressure. This is very easy to use and would recommend to others. I have, I got one for a family member as well that is used daily. It’s a great buy.

It’s still on its first charge three weeks later, 2 readings per day. Case is a bit larger than a Rubic’s cube. Numbers are large, easy to see. Very useful for daily monitoring. Bought it because as soon as I walk into the doctor’s office my bp goes crazy!! Doctors start talking about putting me on meds until I pull out my phone and show them my daily readings. It’s comfortable and portable. A great way to stay on top of your blood pressure (bp).
