We have a golden retriever puppy that was pulling like crazy when we had the flat collar on her. We tried a number of different techniques designed to make her look at me and walk by my side. Nothing really was working very well. I didn’t want to use a choke collar, or a pinch collar. I tried both with my last golden and she didn’t seem fazed by them. My daughter has had good luck using a harness like this one, so I decided to give it a try in size small. It really couldn’t have worked any better! She quit pulling immediately and I don’t feel bad about giving her a tug when she starts lagging too much. Now that I can have better control over her position relative to me, I can start using some of the training methods designed to get her to walk by me. The harness is very well made and I like the idea of reflective threads running through the straps that are on top of, and in front of, the dog. I keep the top strap and the front strap fastened all of the time. Putting it on her just involves slipping it over her head, passing the bottom strap under her chest and clipping it on the other side. The other thing I like about it is being able to clip the restraint in the back seat to it so that she’s protected in case of a wreck and doesn’t become a projectile that might injure us. She’s outgrown the small and we’ve started using the medium.

This is our second easy walk harness. This one has some padding for comfort while on the pup. It can be tricky to adjust and get it fitting correctly, but once set, it works great to control pulling. Our dog doesn’t mind wearing it at all. The harness material is durable and easy to wash.
The front straps can sometime loosen and need to be tightened up regularly. But it’s a quick, easy adjustment.
Overall, I would recommend for any dog that pulls while on walks. Our 55lb golden loves it.

PROS;
– Works extremely well. I work at a pet store for a living and regularly recommend the Easy Walk harness for dogs who pull or lunge. I’ve had nothing but good reviews from people I’ve sold it to, too.
– Reversible, so really nice if you occasionally need a back-clip harness as well.
– Works essentially the same as the “regular” Easy Walk harness, with added padding for comfort. A major deciding factor for me was the reflective stitching on the Deluxe version.
CONS;
– The strap that goes behind their legs is padded, but not entirely so. Unfortunately, the way it fits my dog makes it so that the buckle is directly beneath one of her arm pits (leg pits?), which I fear isn’t so comfortable. This hasn’t been an issue that’s come up, and doesn’t seem to bother her, but that is something I’d watch for with a more sensitive dog.
– Not inescapable by any means (but honestly, no harness is). The front has a martingale-esque design that tightens when the dog pulls. This is nice, but helps more with pulling than it does with security. If your dog is pulling backward, it will be able to slip out given enough time. This is easily preventable, aka don’t pull your dog towards you if it’s pulling back, it will likely slip out, but this hasn’t been an issue whatsoever with me walking my dog. This IS an issue, however, when other people walk her and don’t keep this in mind.
– The front clip part has been consistently too big/loose on my dog, even while the rest of the harness fits perfectly. This is not a sizing issue as it otherwise fits perfectly, and we’ve had her fitted for easy walk harnesses in person before (I just wanted to purchase the cute blue one, haha). The design would work so much better if this front part were smaller or more adjustable than it is.
WHAT TO KNOW;
– These run a bit big compared to the sizing of many other harnesses. Measure your dog before purchasing of course, but do keep that in mind.
– The medium vs the medium-large’s biggest difference is the thickness of the straps themselves. For a heftier breed that needs stronger reinforcement on a harness, go medium-large.
– A few people have complained that their animals have bitten through the harness… This is a comment that frustrates me because it is an entirely preventable issue. Pretty much any harness can be chewed through by a dog if it is left alone with the harness on. It is extremely sturdy. Never leave a harness on a dog unless you are walking it, or you are actively supervising it. If your dog chews out of its harness after being left alone with it on, that’s on you and is definitely not an indication of the product’s quality. While using it correctly, they’ve lasted me years with my pup.
– Lastly, if you’ve never used a front clip, there is definitely a learning curve for both you and your pup. The first two or three walks will be a bit awkward, so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t immediately come naturally. That said, you should immediately notice a difference in pulling; if you have a very strong dog, this is a great product for being able to easily control your pup.

Edit and 5 month update:
It is much easier to “pull” in a direction with the front clip than it is to “restrain” with a back clip. Ive been dragged across a yard via a back clip, whereas the front clip prevents the same force of lunge exertion, and i can redirect much easier and faster with practice. And less embarrassingly.
This harness has its place for me and my dog on our walks. The front martingale is a great design idea.
Original review:
I rescued my dog this summer. She’s a great girl. But she’s also a big, strong girl at 60 lbs. Probably part mastiff, part pittie. My girl is dog reactive. And bunnies. And people.
I got this harness because it looks quick and easy to put on. And it is.
As far, as any cons go, the instructions say that the girth strap needs to be vertical, which I can’t entirely recreate.
I got the M/L and it’s the right size for her. The straps are 1 inch wide. I love the aqua color with the reflective stitching.
Family –
My 6 year old Australian Shepherd has always pulled like a freight train. To the point of almost choking herself when there’s a dog in site. This harness is a game changer. She instantly stopped pulling. If she sees a dog she will pull a little, but I’d say about 3 times less pull power than before. Now most of the time the leash is sagging – unbelievable. So yeah, I wish I had known about these harnesses before.
I’m not sure how it works. I don’t believe the harness hurts her, I believe that when she pulls, the way the front ring moves slightly from side to side, leads the dog back to me a little.
I can also reverse the harness (tie it on the dog’s left side instead of the right side) and the ring goes on top for those times when pulling is a plus – like when I jog or cross country ski. Another aspect that I like is that the harness is just a harness. It doesn’t have extra material all over adding unwanted weight and heat.
I like that the extra padding on the nylon straps of this model, and the whole thing looks comfortable and durable. I waited a month before reviewing this and feel confident to recommend this.

Love this harness. My dog walks a lot better with this.
He doesn’t pull a lot but he can become stubborn if he does not want to move from a spot. I hate having to pull him and with this he comes immediately when it’s time to continue walking.

You can’t go wrong with this harness. And it lasts for years. It easily slips over my dog’s head, so that she doesn’t have to step into two leg loops. The attachment at the front prevents any pull response on her part and she walks along with ease. It’s also very adjustable. Best harness on the market.

I have a German Shepherd x Belgian Malinois cross, she’s 40kg, so obviously pretty powerful.
I’ve struggled with her pulling since I got her as a puppy two years ago, the problem is that she is extremely scent driven and just wants to smell everything.
She can do a focused competition style heel on command perfectly fine, but casual loose lead walking and lead pressure is something that she just does not understand no matter how hard I try to teach her.
When walking, she will hit the end of the lead constantly and will pull to the point of choking herself.
I’ve tried so many different methods of teaching her loose lead walking, I’ve tried so many different tools (Flat collar, regular harness, slip lead, slip collar, half check collar, martingale collar, halti, headcollar) nothing has really worked.
Previously, I was walking her on a figure of 8 lead (basically a slip lead but around the snout like a headcollar) as it was the only thing that could stop her pulling. But she hated it, and it would drastically limit her ability to pant.
I was very hesitant to buy this harness. I’ve tried other front clip harnesses in the past and they were utterly ineffective, so I was skeptical but since multiple people recommended it me I decided to go for it.
And I am so glad I did. As soon as I put it on her, it was like walking a different dog. No more pulling, no more choking, no more struggling to pant. My dog was walking calmly on a loose lead while still being able to sniff about and do whatever she wanted to do.
I typically use a 4 foot rope style lead with this and that works perfectly, I sometimes use a 6 foot bungee lead and that also works very good but somewhat less effectively, anything longer than that doesn’t really work. So don’t expect this to work with a long line or flexi leash.
My only regret is not buying this sooner, I’ve already recommended it to 3 other people and I will probably be buying another one myself as a spare. Definitely recommended for a dog that pulls.
