Melissa Applegate –
A great little machine for a very reasonable price! The holes punch cleanly and crisply. I had never used a binding machine previously and had some difficulty attaching the binding comb (complicated by the fact that I had chosen the smallest size comb). I found a video on YouTube which helped immensely.
Trey Williams –
I ordered this machine to break up a larger collection of sheet music into smaller volumes. The original collection was already comb-bound but the spine was almost 2 inches thick and I wanted them to be more compact. At first I was planning to just buy the spines and manually fit them, but I’m so glad I didn’t try to do that!
I was a little skeptical based on some other reviews, but this thing actually works well. When I put in my first sheet I was expecting a lop-sided punch like a few reviewers, but it punched perfectly straight and aligned. You do have to make sure you push the paper all the way in, and it isn’t heavy-duty to do more than a few sheets at a time, but for light home or small office use it should be no problem. I was able to punch pretty heavy card-stock with no issues (though I only tried to punch one at a time). Even the instructions say to try it on a scrap piece of paper before running your actual job, but this is standard practice even at professional print shops, and is totally reasonable to do.
The supplies included are nice. It includes about 5 each of 3 different sized combs, as well as some plastic covers and some other miscellaneous things. Not going to last you forever, but enough to get started on your first couple jobs. Will definitely look nicer than a 3-hole-punch with brads.
The packaging was nice. The instruction booklet was particularly nice as it was well-written and printed and appeared to have been written by someone who could speak English fluently rather than haphazardly translated, and included professional photos as well.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much for the price, and this thing has far exceeded my expectations. It’s obviously not built like a tank, but it’s relatively solid and seems like it will stand up to light use with no problems. I can see myself using this every now and again for larger print jobs, especially for sheet music so I have a way to make things lie flat rather than rely on stapling or tape!

Worth it, very easy to use, cutting is great, and overall performance is excellent.
Tara Dale –
Doesn’t punch even holes. Right from the start it was uneven, i re-printed and tried again. After three tries and 35 junk pages i finally finished my first book. moved on to the second and first set of 8 pages were crooked. almost impossible to even up pages. When it looks even, they are not. Very frustrating.

Part of this is my own mistake with beginning of school year craziness. I asked my helper to begin binding booklets for me and then left to a faculty meeting. Helper said directions were confusing so didn’t do it after I got back (not sure they even tried). Anyway, look closely at the punch slot – the unit I got has an uneven surface where the metal is not flush, making inserting materials to be punched difficult. The slot is also not quite wide enough to accept a laminated sheet (8.5×11) without trimming down the laminated part first – which eats up more precious time. I only ever tried punching one laminated sheet at a time as I saw that it could only handle one at a time in the previous questions. I really wish I’d had the time to inspect and begin using prior to my return/exchange window closing. Overall, it works well though is not as sturdy as the coil bound booklets… but I can’t afford one of those on the pennies I make teaching.

Β I had an issue with the first one, but was sent out a replacement that did not have the issue like the first with jamming up. For the money itβs not a bad product. I wish it were slightly more rugged, but it is my first one of these and I may upgrade to a more expensive one at some point in the future. I make notebooks and calendars with it. So, for priceβ¦ it will do for someone getting started or a student wanting to make their school projects look more finished.
