I had high hopes for this PSU. I had just bought a new RX7900XTX to replace my aging RTX2060. I only had a 650W PSU and I was reading that 850W is the recommended minimum. So I bought this PSU. The first problem I had is that the RX7900XTX requires 3 x 8 pin PCIe connectors. The PSU came with 3 PCIe connectors, but only one cable would fit. Of the two that wouldn’t fit, one cable would fit the GPU side but not the PSU side, the other cable would not fit either the PSU nor the GPU side. There was also another CPU cable that would fit the motherboard, but would not fit the PSU side at all. I was already suspicious of the PSU. After installing the PSU and applying power to the PSU, the RGB LEDs in my memory DIMMS lit up, which seemed to like a good sign. However, that’s where the good signs stopped. As soon as turn on the PC, the PSU would shut down, I would hear a clicking noise and it would not power back on no matter what. After waiting about 10 minutes, the PSU would come on again, only to shut down again and make the same clicking noise again. I was VERY disappointed since I had to pretty much take my entire PC apart to install the new PSU and re-route all the cables. I am glad I didn’t bother dressing up the cables to make look nice, or I would have been more disappointed. I definitely would NOT recommend this PSU. Maybe I got a dud, but the burned child avoids the fire… It was quiet for the 10 seconds that it ran, so I give it that.

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

For: Budget-conscious builders seeking efficiency, quiet operation, and modular cables

Against: Limited brand reputation, higher noise levels under heavy load, potentially tight cable management

Performance: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The Redragon PSU007 packs a potent punch for its price. Its 850W output makes it suitable for even demanding gaming and workstation builds. The 80+ Gold certification ensures high efficiency, translating to lower power bills and less heat generation. In everyday use, it runs whisper-quiet, remaining near-silent under moderate loads. However, push it hard with a hefty power draw, and the fan noise can become noticeable, though still within acceptable limits.

Features: 4 out of 5 stars

This PSU ticks all the essential boxes. It’s fully modular, allowing you to use only the cables you need, improving airflow and aesthetics inside your case. Japanese capacitors and various circuit protections promise long-term reliability and component safety. It also boasts RGB lighting, though its implementation might be considered basic compared to flashier alternatives.

Value: 5 out of 5 stars

This is where the PSU007 truly shines. Compared to established brands offering similar specs, the Redragon undercuts the price significantly. For budget-conscious builders seeking a reliable and efficient power supply, it’s a hard bargain to beat.

    Things to Consider:

Brand Reputation: Redragon is a relatively new name in the PSU market, so some users might prefer sticking with established brands for peace of mind.
Noise Levels: While quiet under moderate loads, the fan noise becomes noticeable under heavy workloads, which might be a concern for noise-sensitive users.
Cable Management: The modular cables are handy, but the included ones might be slightly short for spacious cases, potentially requiring extra care during installation.
    Final Verdict:

The Redragon PSU007 850W Gold is a compelling option for budget-minded builders seeking a reliable and efficient power supply. Its quiet operation, modular cables, and 80+ Gold certification offer fantastic value for the price. While the limited brand reputation, potential increase in noise under heavy loads, and potentially short cables are minor drawbacks, they don’t overshadow the overall strong performance and affordability. If you’re on a tight budget and prioritize performance over brand recognition, the Redragon PSU007 is a Goldilocks-worthy choice, providing just the right power at a budget-friendly price, with just a few thorns to watch out for during installation and heavy workloads.

Installation was fairly simple. Cables are a little on the stiff side. Fan is very quiet. Worked great to power low wattage components.

the 650 W versions runs fine, i haven’t got any problems with it.
Seems it provides de power that it states.
i bought it like 2 months ago i think.
The colors of the RGB light are pretty u can switch them, i still don’t understand at all the fan system, basically it runs on its own when it needs it, but you can turn it on to be spinning constantly like a regular PSU does.
    I run it with a RTX 3060 OC 12gb and a R5 5600X

This is a great GPU. It’s quiet and works well. The lights in it are really beautiful but I did return to but the 1300 watt GPU. 850 watt is more than enough to power almost any build but I’m going all out.

Great product, I’ve got this a few months now and had problems with it. The fan color is rgb as advertised. But does not sync with the system. It’s stand alone rgb and looks nice.

I had this pc running on a solar generator, the is a micro second where it will switch to charge on AC power if my battery gets low and has no solar intake. I have it hooked to an apc backup incase this happens so my pc doesnt lose power and reset. The tuf gaming would reset regardless and actually failed completely after one month and would not power back on. This one has been flawless since buying it and has an awesome RBG light too.. was worried about trusting the brand but it is great. I steer away from TUF gaming now. First product that said TUF failed super fast. this is better

This PS is super quiet and runs very stable. Love the peace and quiet and it tracks as very consistent power output. Also massively happy with the modular nature of it, so no more having tons of cables handing around in the case not attached to anything. This helps with airflow and the LED lights by the fan are a cute little add on and they also are easy to turn off on the back of the supply Overall a very solid 10/10

Disclaimer: Don’t ever open a PSU, you could die.
This psu impresses on several levels from good feeling cables, to solid performance. Rgb looks okay if you’re into that, but it’s not controllable externally. Unfortunately,
mine had the fan hitting the frame at certain rpms. I was able to resolve by adding rubber washers to separate the fan from the psu frame. However, you’d likely have similar luck just using a flathead or an all tool to shape/bend the frame away from the fan, from the outside.

Okay, this overall is the best purchase I have made in a while! At the moment there is NO noise! It works as it should, and Redragon does not disappoint. The colors are beautiful, it is sleek, everything is labelled and easy to connect and hook up. It did come with the jumper, and very specific instructions.
In addition, I got the one that came with the USA plug, and was afraid I would have to buy an adapter, but nope! All you do is order the EU plug, and it is compatable! so instead of 120 it does support 220 (just incase anyone was wondering)

Preis/Leistung stimmt.
