This was a very useful tool to be able to use a small tenor trombone mouthpiece on a bass trombone. It helped me reach high notes rather well. Unfortunately, this adapter will often get stuck inside the bass trombone, and also get stuck to the mouthpiece itself.

My small shank mouthpiece barely fits in the receiving end and the adapter only fits maybe 1mm into the leadpipe. The dimensions are off just enough for it to be a hassle, but it still works. It’s gotten stuck well a few times.

The picture on the description has a hexagonal border around the front of the adapter, but when I received the adapter it was circular instead. I was pleasantly surprised by this, as it made the adapter look like a piece of my Schilke 51D. Tried it out today, and it fit inside of my large shank Besson Prestige as promised. Great product for a great price.

Works fine, but it is not as shown in the photo. It has a round end rather than a hex end – the hex configuration might make it easier to remove. The round end made it more difficult to remove without a tool as it became stuck after use. I’ll try tuning slide lube on the outer shaft next time I use it.

I though that I was ordering a trombone mouthpiece adapter (to use a small shank mouthpiece on a large shank instrument). However, when the product arrived in the mail, it looked so small that it must have been a trumpet-sized mouthpiece adapter. Looking back at my order, I saw that the product label included the term “trombone mute”, even though the picture clearly showed a mouthpiece adapter. I should have known that something was wrong based on the mismatch between the picture and the product name. At least the company allowed me to return the item.
