I collect and play jaw harps, and I love the variety that they can have! This is one I reach for often, it’s got a very nice sound, a bit mellower and richer than some of my more feisty jaw harps. Amazing quality as always from this company, truly a professional level instrument!

This metal jaw harp certainly catches the eye with its attractive design. It delivers a clear, bright sound, and the quality of construction seems good. However, despite its initial appeal, the playing experience was not for me.
The biggest hurdle for me is the use of metal. While the instrument itself looks nice, holding it between your teeth isn’t very comfortable. The metal feels unpleasant, and the metallic taste is a bit distracting. On top of that, the vibrations produced while playing can be quite intense. While not necessarily painful, they feel strong enough to be unsettling, especially for a beginner. This combination of factors made playing the jaw harp feel awkward. It just never felt safe or natural having it in my mouth.

    In summary:
    • Pros: Attractive design, good sound quality
    • Cons: Uncomfortable and metallic in the mouth, vibrations feel intense

If you’re looking for a jaw harp to learn on, or if you simply prefer a softer feel, a metal harp might not be the best choice. There are many wooden jaw harps available that are known for being gentler on the mouth. These wooden instruments may also offer a warmer, less piercing sound compared to the bright tones of a metal jaw harp. Ultimately, the best jaw harp material comes down to personal preference, but if comfort is a major concern, then a wooden harp might be a better fit.

The very first I got from this maker was a jaw harp for under $10 and it took 4+ weeks to get it. The instrument felt like a kids toy and I was pretty disappointed.
The real lineup of their instruments showed up shortly after and I got a few of them which all came with only a few days. I guess they were now in Amazon warehouses. Awesome.
What a contrast. This instrument shows not only great craftsmanship but also very nice aesthetics/art work. The cases are also very nicely done and are perfect to store the instrument safely (especially when traveling). I am not a jaw harp expert by any means but this instrument sounds really good and motivates me to learn how to play it properly and well. Very nice instrument and well made.

This jaw harp seems to be solidly made. It has some discoloration at the bend of the trigger (likely from heat), but otherwise looks great. It is (subjectively) easy to play and sounds like one would expect from a jaw harp.

There’s certainly a learning curve to this jaw harp, though I’m not sure I’ll be able to get it down since I can’t stand the taste of the metal.

It is, however, a beautiful instrument with delicate carvings and smooth movement to the reed. The sound I was able to produce was nice, so it’s clear this isn’t a cheaply made instrument.

The harp’s packaging—though calling it that is generous—left a lot to be desired and makes me hesitant to recommend this as a gift without moving it to a gift box first (don’t send it direct-ship). The harp was fitted into a styrofoam block and wrapped solely in a letter and tape. I’m not entirely certain what the letter said since it tore when I removed the tape, but it seemed to be a standard letter from the company asking customers to reach out with any problems before leaving feedback.

The harp got to me undamaged, though, so I guess the packaging was good enough, but for $49.99, I expected at least a box. At that price, I also hoped for a small bag or case to protect the instrument, but unfortunately, that wasn’t included either.

I have no previous experience with this instrument but have played wind instruments most of my life. That said, I can play this for short periods only due the vibration. It’s beautiful in design, appears well made, creates a bright sound. It’s actually very fun to create music of this tone…just for short intervals.

I’m not all that musically oriented, but I still enjoy the idea a practice of noodling around with something that can make interesting sounds. I’m working on making interesting sounds with this mouth harp, but it’s been a tough slog for me. I’m thankful that there are plenty of (contradictory!) instructional videos on YouTube, which help, but practice is what will help me even more. So I keep this parked right in front of my computer screen and grab it when I have a break. The metal “twanger” can easily clang into the body of the harp, but with a small bit of practice it becomes second nature to avoid that (though I’m sure sometimes the player would want that to happen).

Some people have complained about the taste of the metal in their mouth. I guess I can taste the metal too, but that doesn’t bother me at all. The beautiful tooling on the harp doesn’t add anything to the sound, but it certainly adds to its attractiveness. I like the fact that this is made of metal and that I don’t have to worry about damaging it while carrying it around. I don’t need a case (something to lose or misplace when I want it), so the absence of one is not a negative to me. It is an expensive purchase, though not expensive when you consider it as a musical instrument.

I like this and am glad that I got it. Eventually I will be able to play it reasonably well to the entertainment of all who listen (and the one who plays).
