Impavidus –
I was really looking forward to receiving this.
Boy, was I disappointed. The reed is way too close to the frame, and hits it every time the loop and trigger are pulled. It is as if the reed and frame were cut from one piece of steel, and no tolerances were allowed.
Don’t waste your money, unless you want to admire the finish work on the wooden case.

Shamanicshop’s Mouth Harp is a professional-grade mouth musical instrument that is suited for both professionals and complete beginners! With its excellent quality and original Russian design, it produces a beautiful mid-range sound that is both captivating, authentic and easy to produce! Encased in a beautifully engraved wooden holder, it’s not only elegant, but super portable! Both the harp and the wooden case that it comes in is super detailed and the print is a great choice for those who appreciate Japanese culture and fashion! It’s a really nice way to show that musician in your life that you care, making it a great gift for not only them, but yourself!
10/10 It’s really easy to pick up and learn- it’s like an analog autotune if you get the sound just right, which makes it really fun to use! There’s plenty of videos on Youtube that can get you started, but this simple harp is so playable that you’ll want to pick it up any chance you get! The wooden case is really easy to take along with you in a pocket or small bag and have the metal harp stay protected!

Mouth harps are one of those instruments I’ve always just had around because they have buckets of them on the music store counter for like 7 bucks.
I heard Yann Falquet from Genticorum use one several years ago and realized they were more than those cheap ones at the store. There is a large difference in quality between those and this harp, however, it’s not without its shortcomings and the price tag might be hard to justify, even though it’s a nice instrument.
The sound I can get out of this is great with a full and dynamic twang that can be modified by tongue position and mouth shape. You can get a rhythmic sound or change notes with some practice.
I had no problem with it hitting the sides unless I was coming from an odd angle in the first place.
The flex is good and the reverberation lasts. Overall, the quality of sound is awesome and I’m super pleased with it in that regard.
The body is made up of two pieces of metal sandwiched together; a thicker one for the main frame, and a thin one on top that includes the reed. It’s pretty well finished so no sharp edges or anything.
The downsides I found were one, that my case (as cool as it is) is not the same etching as the product photo. Rather than a samurai, mine has a dragon. The harp itself has the advertised image.
Probably the biggest thing though is that mine has a couple of small rust spots on the end of the reed, that probably occurred when it was heated up to be curled. They don’t affect anything now, but it’s disappointing for a 60 dollar item.
The price, I think, is probably based on the inclusion of the case too, because I don’t know if the instrument itself would be worth it, as fun as it is. Whether you can justify it or not is up to you.
Overall it is a lot of fun and produces great sound. The included case helps make it easy to carry around to events where there might be a jam session too, but for now mine is on my desk to kill time and try making fun sounds.

This instrument shows not only great craftsmanship but also very nice aesthetics/art work. They all have different patterns and engravings on them and also a different shape. The cases are also very nicely done and are perfect to store the instrument safely (especially when traveling).
I am not a jaw harp expert by any means but this instrument sounds really good and motivates me to learn how to play it properly and well. Very nice instrument and well made.

Trying to get a sound is a little difficult following tutorials, and it’s rather muted at best. Could be me

I can’t whistle to annoy, I mean “entertain”, people with my musical talents so this jaw harp is perfect!
I have no idea what I’m doing other than the equivalent of mashing keys on a piano, but it’s lots of fun!
I’m not sure if I’m more entertained by the twang of the notes or the buzzing in my head!
Definitely use caution as any warning from videos online talking about cracking teeth are very valid!
