Problem: Keeping a 7.5 year old fresh and “in practice” throughout the winter months without freezing his toes off in the backyard.
Solution: This device (SKLZ Hurricane Category 4 Batting Trainer) in the garage.
Previously we were just waiting on “ok” days to go to the backyard and hit off of a T. Even on “ok” days, it was uncomfortably cold and everyone just wanted to go back in. We had also attempted to use the small, golf ball size, trainer baseballs in our garage. I would underhand toss them to him and he would whack the heck out of them. The problem with this was that they were going everywhere and keeping up with them, and the things they knocked over was problematic. My 7.5 year old couldn’t stop laughing long enough to even practice with any sort of seriousness.
With the batting trainer, we are able to utilize our garage. I use a kerosene heater, but any heat source could work. After heating the garage for a half hour or so, we can spend hours in the garage practicing different techniques and swings. This device holds up very well and we are currently using it with (2) of the bands attached.
With two bands attached, neither me or my 7.5 year old can wrap the trainer more than once. That is really kind of sad for me, but hey, I don’t play baseball for a living. Even with growups hitting this trainer, it holds up great and I have seen nothing wrong with its operation or features.
Me and my son highly recommend this product. His swing has definitely improved over the winter months. When not in use in the garage, we just slide it over to the side and back the car back in. For our purpose, it stays out of the way pretty well until needed.
One last note. Letting the bat go is an ongoing “worry”. I realize that one loose bat will be a game changer for practicing in the garage, but we invested in batting gloves for this reason alone. The batting gloves add a “sticky” element that will definitely help in not having to do any sheetrock work any time soon.

My kids can’t get enough of this thing. The more the ball moves, the less kids can think about their form. This puts a stationary ball in front of them so they can concentrate on their form while swinging full power but then don’t have to chase a ball. My kids went from soft ground balls and bloopers to hard line drives and shots to the fence. However, this is only one tool of many that we use. I would also suggest not letting them use their game bat for this. Maybe even a separate bat only for this tool.

I just ordered this for my daughter’s first juniors season. I haven’t used it yet so I will update after about a week of use but so far, each piece came well wrapped in bubble wrap, cardboard and zip ties. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble it was really easy and the instructions were well written and illustrated. The actual product seems extremely sturdy and durable – the locking knobs are plastic and the main frame is steel. The only downfall so far is that the bag is fairly thin for the weight and variation of pieces and it came with a hole torn in it – it’s an easy fix with duct tape or a patch but it could definitely benefit from being slightly more durable fabric. It also comes with an internal pocket for the ground stakes which is cool. Overall – 10/10 for the product, 8/10 for the bag it comes with.

I’m a kid who loves baseball and is always looking to get better. A while back my friend texted me saying he got a new swing trainer and it was this one by SKLZ. I decided to save up some money and buy this trainer (best purchase I’ve made in a long time) and it arrived in 3 days!! (Thanks Amazon) Anyways when it arrived it came in a nice carrying bag and was a breeze to put together. When together this thing is sweet it is so much easier than a normal tee. I recommend you buy this product it is very good for baseball/softball training.

I coach U9 softball and this has been a game changer for my team. We’ve only had it for a few practices, but the girls development and coordination has improved tremendously. They’re catching on so fast – I wish I had bought this sooner.
This hitting trainer is great. It is very durable and heavy. Everything is made well and strong. This will last!!!! Even with 9 year olds beating the heck out of it. Lol
I’ve included pictures of the set up process. It is really slick and easy. I had it put together in under 10 minutes. Tear down was even faster. Plus everything fits in a nice black zippered bag – which is heavy when filled but doesn’t feel like it will rip easily.
This is definitely worth the money!!
