Sadly, 2 out 5 reeds were not good enough to use. My lips could feel faults on the Reed.
Neena Parsons –
This type of reed feels way better than Rico or Juno, I’ve gotten the black vandorion reeds and now I’m trying out these red ones, I think they are worth the money if you care about the quality of sound and how it feels when you play. Instead of wetting them with saliva I’ve been soaking them in water for about 30 seconds to make them last longer and they definitely sound better ever since I’ve started doing that.

Le migliori ance per un approccio, con lo strumento, che possa spaziare fra un tipo di musica e un altro, senza alcun problema. 5 stelle meritate!
Matthew Mrozinski –
I get pretty good results from these reeds. Using the 3 strength on a Jody Jazz DVNY 7*. Playing a wide variety but 75% of the time I’m playing early punk, experimental rock and blues/rock tunes.
I will open and playtest all 5 reeds in a box and usually get 1-2 that are standout players. These will last me anywhere from 3-6 weeks each. I never even take them off the mouthpiece until they are ready to be thrown away.
By this time I can cycle through the rest of the reeds in the box. I end up with about 1-2 that are completely useless (reeds are like that unfortunately) but with some love and break-in the rest of the box will play as well as the first two reeds did.
I play experimental/rock (think Stooges and T. Rex), deep house, reggae and of course jazz. I get a lot of versatility from the mouthpiece and reed combination. I can blow, blow, blow for the rock and house stuff, or get sexy, growly and smooth a la Stan Getz depending on my attack and air. This is probably more of a feature of the moutpiece. But the reeds last a long time. Some of them may seem “blatty” but they just need to really get the fibers stretched out and worn in. The “blatty” reeds last the longest and sound the best IMO, once they break in.
When I was using blue box filed Vandoren (same strength), on the contrary, the “blatty” reeds stayed stuffy and generally “flat”/”dead” and never would really “wake up” like the red Javas do. Reeds never lasted this long with a metal mouthpiece but I find them to be a great value, great sound, and a lot of fun to play in general.
But then again, a reed is just a reed…

Je voulaisvessayer tous les vandoren force 3.
La V16 est plus difficile quevla bleue. Tendance a monter.
Jazz Rouge est la plus facile.
J’attends la verte et la ZZ.

I bought this for my Yamaha YTS-48 with a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. It produces that good ole Jazz sound. I did end up returning. Not because of anything quality or sound related; more because the strength wasn’t enough for me. I do however still recommend this product!
Sonia –
My son said the notes sound much better than the original reeds he was using. He loves the new reeds.

The media could not be loaded.
(from a beginner) Ive been using 2 of these reeds for a month(about 30m-1hr a day, 5 days/w) and they feel good and broken into now (I soak one in my mouth for 5-10mins before playing)
It has a warm tone, can change sound from sharp to smooth/soft well, holds tone well and feels durable
I don’t have to squeeze or force embouchure too hard, plays high/low notes well
Fits nice and tight on the mouthpiece, doesn’t leak out air much
I think it sounds punchier/strong sometimes when I try to really play the note hard, specifically the high notes past G
It sounds really good up there that it makes me a little nervous and gives me a strong reaction like a little shock or shake lol
It helped me get more comfortable + confident with the higher notes and made me feel like I could hit those notes easier
I wanted to try some other brands but they didn’t have 4.0 to try. I used mostly 2.5 and moved up to 3.0 and 3.5 for these few past weeks and wanted to try 4.0 which I like now!
also wasn’t sure about the other blue and green vandoren reed boxes and read more reviews on this one (also I have a slight preference for the color red lol) maybe later I’ll try the other 2 boxes
Again, it helped me hear how I could get those high notes to be strong, sharp and loud but also soft, warm, and smooth
Definitely inspired me to play more and helped me have fun and enjoy the tenor sax sound more!
Glad I got these reeds!

I play the V16 on Soprano, ZZ on Alto, and decided to give these Reds a shot on Tenor, and OMG, LOVE AT FIRST TRY….I never thought id move off the Plasticovers, and they seem to be consistent throughout the lot.

I started using these exclusively for marching band, but they work in a lot of ways if you learn to control them. The thin tip and strong spine allows them to be seriously free blowing, while allowing you to be precise and control your sound. Don’t get me wrong, they can take some getting used to after playing other reeds, but after a while, they feel amazing. Since they’re thinner than others, they can wear out pretty quick, especially after using them for extending periods throughout practice. If your reeds “die”, you can give them a bath in water mixed with hydrogen peroxide, scrub any scum off of them, and dry them off. This process revived my week+ old reeds, brought them to playing brand new. Overall, these are the best reeds I have personally ever played on. Definitely worth the money.
