I ordered two of these. One was about 9″x9″ and the other was 7″x10″; one was fairly flat, the other was curved. The sizes vary, of course, because these pieces were taken from cork trees, which cannot produce perfect sizes. Because the seller does not cut them into specific sizes, the sizes are different for each piece. This makes the bark more natural looking. I’m not too critical about the size variations since I’m not using the cork for a specific-sized animal. I use these to mount my orchids on, so the more natural they are, the better. In my experience, the size listed in the Product Dimensions under Product Details usually refers to the size of the containing box, not so much the actual product – a bit misleading.

The cork bark is extremely light. It’s a bit dirty so I sprayed it with water and baked it in the oven to kill any pests living within. I wish it was larger, but I paid $10 for each piece, which is cheaper than what I would spend at the pet store.

The bark was the perfect size, but for some reason it won’t stay right side up as the extra large does. I needed a smaller one for my smaller RES turtle, and because I had such great success with the Extra Large, I thought “Why not?” The price was reasonable, and the shipping was fast, as usual. Would order again, but not this particular size.

I got the large flat instead of the medium due to the reviews saying that it will be small. What I got was 19 inches long and 4 inches at it’s narrowest and 9 inches at it’s widest. Needless to say, it was a lot bigger than I expected and won’t fit in my terrarium but now I can cut it and have 2 pieces. Great!

This large cork flat was the perfect size for my 18″3 gecko tank when I put it at a 30° angle. Now my little guy can go from one end of the terrarium to the other on this cork flat.

I purchased this piece for several assassin bugs that I was transferring into a large communal container. They require something to hang from, so I just needed a piece that was big enough to chop to size to span a small kritter keeper. This flat cork piece was bigger than expected, and pretty thick, too. I broke it apart by hand, and whittled away a little more with pliers as needed (just snap off bits). I ended up with plenty leftover for other projects, so I tucked it into a grocery bag and stored it. Didn’t expect to receive such a good piece on Amazon considering I tend to be really picky about cork pieces when I’m shopping at stores.

The “Large” cork flat I received is 15” at the longest point and 9” at the widest point. It is shaped like a long triangle. It’s a great piece of cork bark for the price I paid ($11).

The picture here doesn’t do it justice, so I uploaded a couple shots. I was very pleased with this, even though the color is more grayish with light green moss. The cork is thick, deeply grooved and semi-rounded, which makes it a great cover for my aquarium heater, and offers more hiding spots for my fish. I almost ordered the cork tile, but this works better for my usage, which will be one end of my 55 gallon aquarium.

Being cork, it takes a lot to hold it down, however. I attached 3″ suction cups to the back with 12 lb. test fishing line. Well, the line stretched and broke, so now I’m using 25 lb. test. I’ll update with another picture of my tank when I’m sure it will hold.

I got the large cork bark about 2 weeks ago. It was about 15 1/2 inches long, by 10 inches (not taking into account it’s roundness, just from end to end). It fits perfectly at the one end of my 29 gallon aquarium and my red eared slider loves it (it gives her a good grip too, with all the grooves of the bark). Mine wasn’t so rectangular, but the shape really worked for what I was using it for. The bark’s unique shape, made a nice ramp on one side and left a space on the other side to go underneath, almost like a little grotto. I did have to shove some of the pieces that I cut off into some grooves, just to make sure my turtle wouldn’t get stuck down the side, and I also used some slimmer pieces to keep the cork snug against the tank. I say in the title that the cork is straight from the tree because I noticed little spider webs in the grooves of the cork! It wasn’t a problem at all, I just rinsed the cork off, which I highly highly recommend you do for a few hours before putting into an aquatic tank, because I rinsed it just to get the webs off and when i put it into my tank, it turned the water a deep orange-red color within an hour. Soak the entire thing in a bathtub for at least 2 hours beforehand.

It wasn’t even a half tube like I shows in the picture. I was just sent a random piece of log. There some kind of white mold or something all over it and there’s a literal spiders nest inside…. I get it’s a natural log…. but what-
Usually when I buy stuff from zoo med it’s always top notch so I’m extremely disappointed.
