For a long time I was searching for something bigger than sling bag and smaller than typical 18-20l messenger bags for a daily commute to the office.
I’m in love with Bellroy products, currently owning 8 different products, so when I saw 14l bag with green color, I decided that I have to try.
The bag is, really, a big sling. It sits like sling on your back (thanks to placement of the strap hooks on the back it wears really flat); it has internal pocket for water bottle (350ml Kinto mug fits there perfectly).
Stitching seems sturdy, very comfortable handles.
14l is small enough to be comfortable when commuting with public transport; definitely easier to maneuver with it than with the backpack.
Typically I’m carrying 13.3 inch laptop, Bellroy Desk Caddy packed with peripherals, Jabra Evolve2 65 headset in the case + wallet, keys, tissues, coffee mug, umbrella, Peak Design Packable Tote.
It’s getting tightly packed with all of these, but that was my need – to have rather packed smaller bag, than empty spaced big one.
Note that 14l will not accomodate laptop bigger than 14″. Sometimes I need to carry 2x 13.3″ laptops and then it’s getting really tight (both can’t go to the laptop compartment), but still manageable.
In general I’m very satisfied with the purchase.
Bird Love –
I own a number of Bellroy products and love them for their simplicity and high quality bags and wallets. I put the quality up there with other brands such as Timbuktu. When I saw the new color of this bag I immediately had to buy it! The color is beautiful, the quality is high as expected, and had a number of fantastic details. The bag hangs well and feels comfortable, has a luggage strap, and I really like the size and magnetic closure.
The only gripes I have about the bag are that my 14” MacBook doesn’t fit inside the laptop pocket with my case unless I really squeeze it in. The second is that the front zipper doesn’t full expose the front pockets across, which seems to be a common feature across Bellroy bags. These are nitpicky details, however, the one thing I really really wish for is one more external access pocket like the Tokyo backpack has! It’s pricey, but I expect the bag to last for several years.

It’s an ok bag. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, the material is incredibly crinkly (at least on the evergreen) so don’t expect a nice flat front with a clean look. I really hate when companies use images that don’t reflect the actual state of the product. It makes me wonder if they were cleaned up in an image editing program.
It’s a quality material though so it’s got that going for it.
Given its actual size it’s misnamed imo. It should be called a 14” laptop sling.
The material used means the front pockets have very little expansion capacity so what you can put in them will be extremely limited by this choice.
The way the front pocket zipper track is laid out means it’s likely to let in a fair amount of water in even medium rain. For the price this bag should have had an aquaguard zipper. Kind of a brutal, cheapskate omission imo.
The laptop pocket is barely padded, the zipper just gets in the way and the size of the pocket means you can’t use a laptop sleeve to get more protection which is so dumb all around. If you buy this bag be aware you’re going to need to be more careful than you should need to be when setting it down.
Also the laptop pocket is sized exactly for a 14” MacBook Pro so if you’re laptop is any bigger, even millimeters bigger stay clear.
On the price… this bag is NOT worth the money unless you really (REALLY) want this kind of messenger bag. Otherwise it’s $100 too much.
Bellroy used to make incredible bags with innovative features and fair prices but now they’re more interested in playing with fabrics and quirky designs that they can overcharge for.
I bought the bag because it fits a need but I wouldn’t recommend it at this price. If you can get it for a fire sale price then go for it.

A lightweight bag that’s very comfortable to carry. I originally thought the zipper would be a waterproof zipper, but it’s actually just a regular zipper. Other than that, it’s a very stylish bag.

I can fit my 13” macbook pro, ipad, over ear headphones a fellow coffee mug and a water. It’s full but still has space for everything. Great material absolutely love it!

I’m currently using this bag as my daily carry to commute to work with. I’ve used the bag everyday for a few weeks, and so far it has held up quite well. The size is perfect and it fits everything I need (notebook, tumbler, keys, paperwork, camera). The look is also very nice, as I enjoy Bellroy’s Tokyo line of bags. The bag itself is also very light and easy to swing around. I took it though two rain storms and amazingly nothing inside has gotten wet, despite the bag’s main compartment is just closed with a flap and no zipper. My cons with the bag is that the front pocket protrudes quite a bit, even though I only have keys and a phone in the pocket, causing it to collect a lot of outside pollen and dust. I’m not sure why it didn’t sit flush against the bag, it ruins the look alittle. Also the clasp holding the top flap closed can be a bit finicky at times, being hard to lock and unlock, so most of the time I don’t bother to latch it. Some of the stitching around the bag is also starting to become undone, but hopefully it won’t cause a problem any time soon. A few more pockets also would’ve made the bag more amazing. But overall, I’m certainly enjoying the bag!

… Material, Qualität und Größe. Es geht das Notwendige hinein (auch ein 15“ Macbook Air!)
und man bleibt wendig. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Schnörkellos – auf irgendwelche „Geheimtaschen“ braucht man in den Öffis nicht aufpassen, die gibts eh nicht … Macht nach den ersten Wochen einen sehr robusten Eindruck, nimmt auch keinerlei Schmutz an. Fazit: Ein teurer Geheimtipp.
