Paul Marceau –
Cliente Kindle –
DO NOT BUT THIS PRODUCT. Got throughly stuck on the first use.
Lurchbird –
Perfect for Yamaha tenor sax. It did bunch up a couple of times pulling from bell to neck due to octave pipe that extends into the sax body/throat. As long as you pull slowly, it isn’t an issue.
Doug T. –
Been using a couple different swabs for my tenor sax for the last dozen years. Finally wore them out and went shopping. Couldn’t find a swab that would go through the fully assembled horn – through body-through neck, and through mouthpiece. So, went for the next best thing. This has a weighted string on one end of the swab and another non-weighted string on what would be the other end. So, you can drop the weight in the bell, it’ll drop through the body, and then using both strings you can pull it back and forth to swab the horn. Just make sure it doesn’t get bunched up in the bell. It is nice and thick and can get stuck up the body it you’re not careful. It won’t go completely through the neck and mouthpiece but it does do a great job of swabbing them out. So, I’ve given up not trying to swab the horn fully assembled. Just takes a minute or two more to swab. Not a big detail, just a little inconvenient.
W.P. –
The only swab you will need. This is the best swab I have ever used for tenor sax.
Wilbur –
How ridiculous. Stuck on first attempt through my 83 year old Conn 10M, a large bore horn. If you use a swab on the wrong size horn than it’s on you, like trying to get a tenor swab through a straight soprano. This is completely unacceptable, even if you don’t send it through the exact way the instructions state. Now I’m off to the tech to have them remove this so I don’t damage my horn. And to think I bought Protech precisely because they’re such a good accessory brand I thought they’d get this right. Stay with Yamaha green or a silk swab
Ry McCorkle –
O tecido, apesar de absorver bem a umidade, é pouco maleável e seu recorte na parte inferior é muito largo, mesmo para um sax tenor. Ficou preso logo no primeiro uso. Foi um sufoco para remover. Não indico.
Austin –
I keep this in my Protec gig bag and run it through my tenor sax after rehearsals. It certainly does the job well and absorbs all of the spit from a full day of marching band.
afeld –
This is the best swab I’ve ever had for my tenor, couldn’t be more excited 👏 the design has a smaller end which allows you to string part of it through the mouthpiece and neck. It is perfect! Definitely my favorite swab by far
Wilbur –
Bought this specifically for the tenor sax body and it really absorbs the moisture efficiently. Usually run it through twice, but with this I believe once may be enough. Using this on the neck and mouthpiece is pretty tight so I’m using a neck swab as well, but the swab that came with my neck swab was to narrow for the tenor sax body, this product is much better.
afeld –
This swab got stuck in my tenor sax the very first time I used it. I wanted to purchase a nice quality swab as I had just finished spending $1,300 on an overhaul of my collectable 1940s big band Buescher. I’ve been using swabs for 50 years so I know how to use one properly. I was very careful dropping the lead cord down into the bell and turning the sax over to let it come out through the neck. I drew the swab slowly and carefully upwards, but it became hopelessly stuck in the body of my sax. It took an hour to carefully dislodge the the impacted material from my horn without damaging the instrument. I can only say BEWARE!
Conner Paszko –
Swab works perfectly, except you have to be careful that the end of the swab doesn’t get bunched up and get stuck in your horn. A few times now I’ve had to reach into the bell and grab the string to pull it back out. If you’re aware of this operator error, though, it works perfectly.
